Pat asked about unique experiences in the National Parks. The bat flight experience at Carlsbad Caverns is fantastic. Every night in the summer, a park ranger gives a talk just before sunset about the bats that dwell in the cavern, then everyone in the amphitheater is asked to sit in total silence and darkness (NO electronic devices or cameras!) while anywhere from 200, 000 to one million bats exit the cavern in about 30 minutes for their nightly foraging for insects to eat. We were there in October near the end of their migration so the numbers were on the lower end, but still just WOW!

We live about an hour and a half from Mammoth Cave. We have probably been there 20 times in 26 years. ❤

Many National Parks are designated as Night Skies Designation and I was at Great Basin NP and they pulled out telescopes where we saw deep deep into the night sky! A different galaxy! What a neat thing to do.

I don't have the time to do the National Park quilt, but the pictures of what others are doing have inspired me and I have been designing the blocks with some of the fabrics. I have sooo many ideas. Thanks❤

I’m not participating in the National Park sew along but enjoy watching. An area Barnes and Noble had a beautiful National Park display with so many items. It included the cryptids which I love!

Greetings Pat,
No National Parks in Ottawa County, Ohio, but we do have a Preserve and a Monument. The Park Service is responsible for both facilities.
The Wildlife Preserve is a good place to spot migrating birds in the spring. On the shore of Lake Erie and the islands, it merges with bird sanctuaries in Canada.
The National Monument commemorates Commodore O.H.Perry's victory over the British fleet during the War of 1812. Reanactors from the US and from Canada sail around the bay. Sometimes the US wins, and sometimes the Canadians win, but a good time is had by all. This battle takes place in September. Perry's Monument is the world's tallest Doric column.

Several years ago, I saw a selection of these quilts exhibited at Bulloch Hall, a historic site in Roswell, GA (Atlanta suburb). Bulloch Hall was the home of Teddy Roosevelt's mother; he is the US President who oversaw the creation of the National Parks. The quilts were fantastic! My favorite is the Singing Vole by Joyce L.Carrier!

Oooo i love the idea of highlighting the corners on the Christmas quilt. I'm making myself one but also my hairdresser one. She is a super sweet friend, who has done my hair for over 20 yrs. I'm more excited to make her quilt lol.

I saw the synchronized fireflies at the Smoky Mountain National Park in June. It was one of the most spectacular experiences.

The parks parade blocks I liked Cathy's blocks layed of centre! Whether she ment to do it that way or not .❤ Of course William Morris fabrics...gorgeous! There were others I like too, will need a second look🥰

Very cool book! I have always heard that the Bear Paw block with a 4 patch in the square is called the Best Friend block. Your Jolly Bar quilt is so festive.

Before you put the Christmas quilt together, be sure to check the orientation of the corner HSTs. As it is in the video, I think theyvare turned the wrong way. Thanks for your video. As always, it's the way I start my day😊
