Its interesting how Isabella knew all the names of all these different plants, it's like shes truly passionate botany and horticulture but was only allowed to grow flowers to be perfect for abuela, so she never attempted to grow anything more than what was deemed perfect.

I love just how joyous Isabela is when she launches into this song. For so much of the film, she's sullen and seemingly pretentious, but the moment she lets herself embrace her real passions and desires instead of trying to be so prim and elegant, she's just euphoric. It's amazing.

I think this song can really connect to artists, because that's what Isa is, an artist. She creates and she's happy to share it, but because it looks good to other people, Abuela made her gift a spectacle. She got a public with never-ending requests, and, suddenly, her passion is a boring, bland job. With the cactus, inspiration returns. It's weird, and she doesn't really understand the appeal herself, but it's something she made on her own that no one asked of her. She remembers why her gift is a gift at all.

SPOILER ALERT: I love how this movie shows how PTSD can affect not just the individual, but also the following generations. Abuela's fears protected but also constrained the family. Mirabel wasn't gifted a power because the house needed her to ask the questions to heal the past. Her power was to force the family to confront these expectations and allow Abuela and the family to heal.

I'm glad this song is about how Isabela talks about how she doesn't want to be that "Perfect Child" anymore, and just wants people to accept her and to be herself. Teaches a great lesson to a lot of us! 🌸

The ONLY thing that bugs me about this song in the movie… IT HAS EXTRA HARMONIES THAT ARE SO PRETTY THAT ARENT ON THE SOUNDTRACK. I WISH we coulda gotten this version on the soundtrack 😂

Also, let’s take a moment to appreciate that first shot. It’s literally one of the most beautiful shots i’ve ever seen in any Disney movie besides I See The Light, and Moana walking to Taka/Te Fiti. 😱😱😱

Interestingly, I notice her dress is also unique to her sisters. Apart from being different because it's very light and elegant and definitely a lot more refined, it also isn't as dynamic as the normal linen Mirabel and the others in her family wear. It's much stiffer and is layered to look like flower petals, rather than being just a wearable, comfortable dress she can move around in. I bet if she raised her knee she wouldn't have enough room in her skirt's circle like both of her sisters and her cousin do, and I just though that's a nice detail in her costuming

I'm so happy that they gave Isa's character and powers actual substance and didn't just leave her as the "pretty perfect one". By the end of the film she went from bring my least favorite character to my most favorite 💖

The attention to detail in this scene alone is just impressive. It's just so mesmerising to look at. Not only that, the song is a bop and it's now one of my favourite to jam into.

Personally I think Isabella has the best power. Like yeah Shape shifting can mighty come in handy, but Isabella's just seems so fun.

I love how this song and the moments leading up to it make you realise that both Isabela and Maribel were jealous of each other. Maribel thought Isabela was effortlessly perfect and got all the attention, love etc from the family that she never got. Meanwhile Isabela was jealous of Maribel because she thought Marib was free to do as she pleased, due to having no expectations placed on her head eg forced to marry a man she didn't love to please their grandmother.

Great to see Mirabel reconcile with her sister AND to see Isabela become true with herself! Maybe a meet and greet of Isabela should have the multi-colored black dress!

This was easily my favorite song from the film!
I already saw Encanto twice on the big screen, and I can't wait to watch it again on Disney+ this month.
