Went to Ramallah twice this past December and stayed a night. I noticed it has more people in Western style clothes than Hebron or Nablus, and more Western shops like pizza places, numerous cafes, and when I was there a grand Christmas tree in the city center. You can get delicious kebabs for a fraction of the price of Israel. And since there are only a handful of other tourist, you get a strong and friendly welcome wherever you go. But probably the most important thing I learned in Ramallah was that the understanding and image I had of the city, that it was dangerous and full of people I should fear, well that was wiped out and I realized people and life was basically the same and there was nothing out of ordinary to fear at all.

Politics aside, I had a look at Ramallah on Google Maps Streetview and most of the city looks nice and clean.
