Nationalism and conservatism are popular in Latvia. What Latvians refer to as "center-right" in Latvia would qualify as far right in west Europe (such as AFD in Germany and Rassemblement National in France). Latvia has less freedoms, freedom of speech is lacking. Latvia has many homophobes, racists, xenophobes, and a rabid hate for Russians. Latvians and Latvian media are afraid to criticize such mentalities.
