LSA HP-2 ULTRA. (EVEN BETTER WITH KENNERTON ECL-MF EARPADS).

My pick for the year 2020 headphone of the year. The LSA HP-2 Ultra becomes even better with an earpad swap.

I bought my HP2 used and one of the pads seemed like the foam was a little twisted, so I swapped out with my Dekoni sheepskin pads that I received with my DT177X. The ear hole is slightly smaller, and the pad is slightly thicker. I noticed a similar difference. Plus, I love running them on my warmer gear too. I use the SMSL-SH9 for more of a first impression, baseline starting point.

My LCD-X 2021 got my attention with that combo of good, deep controlled bass, lush, warm mids and great detail retrieval. The Atrium is very similar, but with a dynamic driver. Thia is also why I went with the DT177x instead of the DT1770, the Focal Elex instead of the Clear and the 8xx instead of the 800s.

Unfortunately the shipping cost to the US is more than the pads. Hopefully a US retailer will stock these pads or even better ZMF will make one 🤞🏻

Hi Willliam, many thanks for such a great review and importance of earpad swapping, I am looking for a closed back headphone recommendations. I like Arya and Planner sounds more than dynamic how would you rate Kennerton Rognir are they comparable to hifiman sound signature. Thanks
