The Greek island of Thassos welcomes guests with wonderful lush vegetation, snow-white marble beaches and the purest sea. Among its most beautiful natural attractions is the Giola Lagoon located in the coastal cliffs.
A lagoon with emerald-colored clear water is located near the village of Astris. A small pool of 15 by 20 meters was formed naturally under the influence of sea waves. The depth of the lagoon is only three meters, so the water in it warms up well and the bottom is very clearly visible.
Giola Lagoon has the shape of a pearl shell. It is separated from the waters of the open sea by a low rock barrier up to two meters long. During tides and storms, waves easily overcome it and fill the pool with cool sea water.
