Thanks just picked one up from a buddy with his old RGB modded SNES junior. Wanted to update the firmware and I ran into this issue. It's still there in 2021 though it's hidden pretty well. Updated and this works on my switch and phone too now.

Thanks so much for this! I just purchased two SNES30 controllers from Amazon and was searching everywhere for the firmware. I sent an email to 8bitdo as well.

My SFC30 gamepad works perfectly on my MacBook Pro. (It appears on my bluetooh as 8Bitdo SFC30 GamePad)
But on my ipad, and my iphone does not appear on the bluetooth page.
Finally I pressed L + R + start and it appeared on my ipad as FC30 GamePad.
But none of the pairing modes work.
Maybe you recommend me an update?

Thank you, I will try this out tomorrow on my raspberry pi. I got both controllers updated to I think it was 3.0 from like 2.52 or something like that. I was going to be so pissed at the store I bought this from because it wasn't working and this controller is discontinued. Wither or not this works, thanks for showing me where the hidden file was.

Now that firmware 4.20 is the most update version for the sn/sf 30, can we still use it for the sfc30, and should a specific firmware be applied (ie sn30 or sf30… or doesn’t matter??). Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The problem is, it tells you to go into firmware update mode by pressing what does L and R mean? I've tried L1+R1, L2+R2, and L3+R3. What the heck do they mean by "L"

i need help with my 8bitduo. One the model i have is different then the ones shown on the website so im not sure which it exactly is. the led only blinks red when i try to do the windows update and it keeps giving me an error when i try to update saying " firmware update failure, handle work in BOOT mode". what should i do?

Looks like they changed that I looked at discontinued and no link to download the old firmware.

thank you, i just bought my n30 and noticed the updater tool dosnt had the controller, now i updated it and its working fine, is a lame that the controller is discontinued

Looks like they removed the firmware file for the keychain sized white and blue FC30, does someone have the latest firmware file for that one? thank-you

i bought a snes30 a week ago, , i updated the firmware, right now, over bluetooth, it works great, but if i can use the controller via usb, none of the buttons back out of menus, its all confirm confirm know whats wrong, its a little annoying

Still able to see and download most discontinued firmware versions from there. You can even go back far enough to get the firmware for the N64/RB8 controller
Just select the firmware option and then download the files.
