1941 would have been a great film if it had focused more on John Belushi's character, Dan Aykroyd and his tank crew, Tim Matheson and Nancy Allen's characters, and the Japanese submarine, and cut out all the stuff about Wally and his girlfriend, Betty, and the entire Douglas family, all of which was a drag on the story.

It was based around an actual event in WWII, the Battle of Los Angeles

I ❤ the parts in the movie where the 40 mm AA gun destroys the houde with Ned Beaty's help. Best part was the morning after when he bangs the Xmas wreath on his front door and sends whats left of the house realing backwards off of its foundations and it crashes to pieces on the beach below leaving the Douglas family homeless. Ha ha ha lmao lol funny. I often wish they would have made a sequel to 1941. Just to show the trials and tribulations of getting a new home built in the midst of war time rationing and shortages of food and vital materials. It has been said only 143 cars were built durring America's WW2 yrs 12/7/41-9/2/45. I wonder how many homes were built if at all?

This is one of my favorite Spielberg films. I laughed so much. I found it very intelligently written in its parody of the time and of other films. I don’t think it got its appropriate due.

Hilarious movie but Spielberg should have told John Milius to direct it that way Steven would have been the executive producer and avoided the blame he got for this. I love the movie it's super funny and crazy inventive the script is brilliant by Zemeckis & Gale.

It was more than mildly humorous. You're European and simply do not get the Movie.

Underrated? This is the worst film Spielberg ever made. In fact, it's the unfunniest comedy ever made.

"Underrated"? God no. '1941' was an overlong, unfunny mishmash of junk. I only laughed once during the entire film- when John Belushi smashes a bottle of booze in the cockpit of his plane and pours it on his face. Otherwise, terrible.
