Upwelling phenomenon | Microbiomes Mission

⛵️ Between Cape Town in South Africa and Walvis Bay in Namibia, Tara traveled 2,000 nautical miles and collected 2,684 samples.

This stage was dedicated to a very particular biological and physical phenomenon: upwellings when cold water loaded with nutrients, from the depths to the surface. Upwellings are at the origin of life peaks in the Ocean like during the creation of phytoplankton blooms!
