I found another one. In the us version of the game, you can duck on the white platform near the end of the level to go into the background. If you finish the level while in the background, you get a warp whistle. But in the jp version, you can go into the background as usual but you can’t get the whistle.

the damage reason actually had a reason, in Japan, SMB3 had to be a sequel to the Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels version of Mario 2, while in America, it had to be a sequel to Super Mario USA version of Mario 2. they made the damage more accurate to each game

Just remember just because something is harder doesn't mean it's better

Usually I get annoyed that they think we’re worse, (Which is true in my case lol) but honestly it seems like the American version is how it should have been originally 🤣

The thing is, alot of games we're updated when they got released/rereleased, SMB3 is easier yes, but it was also adjust some parts of the game to make it more fair while other changes we're done to stay in line with a series of games in SMB3's case.

Mario 3 is super easy using the warp flutes, but hard and sort of long without warps.

They didn't really make it easier. Japan typically tested the games on the Japanese market first before releasing in the US since the gaming market was still recovering from Atari. These were more like patches to make the player experience better...the intro of video game rentals actually had developers make US games harder (Castlevania 3's US version is harder than the Japanese release for example)

I remember in the original Mario game, if you have a power up and an enemy touches you, you would become little Mario

This is more like fixing completely bs things than just outright making it easier.
