My father was posted in AFS Hasimara.
I have been there briefly.

The decision to upgrade the base for Rafale was taken as soon as deal was done for aircraft. Not when 1st Squadron was complete.

I was in hashimara from 2001-2006. It's a beautiful place near bhutan border. Living in army area near airforce station, watching mig 21 flying sorties daily. And annually we used to go at airforce parade watching thunderbolts acrobats. Really awesome 😎

I have stayed 3 days in Hashimara Air Station. My heart swelled with pride in stating that Hashimara is one of the best managed Airstation in the world. Excellent infrastructure and team to protect India and Bhutan. In future, if China challenges India in Himalayas and eastern border in collusion with Bangladesh. Hashimara Air Station would play major role in countering the threats. In 1971 War also Hashimara played the important role. Hashimara received President Colour.

Hashimara is the best option both startegically and geographically bcz to counter China from Easter side mainly in the tawang sector we need the fighter crafts there as in the northern Ambala base is already been there equipped with Rafael so it can counter both China and Pakistan ' s army as well as airforce threats in the north .. Moreover if any intrusions from bay of Bengal side is there we can also move our rafale there to assist the navy..

I am not at all qualified or experienced about this type of serious strategic matter Indian Army. But being an Indian I am proud of Indian soldiers, they are the actual hero. hasimara, alipurduar n siliguri chicken neck are strategically important ...against Chiina. the full administration should be given to airforce and more land acquired. The inefficient bengal Govt will pose an obstacle to land acquisition for more capable air bases and army camps.
