This short video demonstrates a few common rowing errors, followed by explanations and demonstrations of how to improve your technique and fix the errors.

The errors to watch for at the catch (front) as you lead into the drive, and the proper technique cues:
- shins past vertical: your shins should be vertical, with your knees never going in front of your feet
- shoulders not coming forward (i.e. leaned back at the catch or leading into the drive with the shoulders): your body should be leaned forward slightly to give you a nice long stroke.
- legs overcompressed which brings your seat to your heels: your hips should never touch the footstretcher; keep them in a strong position.
- heels up: keep your heels down as far as your flexibility will allow you to, with a focus on driving your power through your full foot.

While our model in this video keeps her heels down in the second half, you may notice you don't have the ankle flexion to keep yours that low. The main idea being to work on driving with full foot contact, instead of just pushing with your toes.
