Passwords to the innumerable things we have to have them for. That's a huge one.

I'm in emergency management and thsi concept applies even more broadly than just some kind of emergency that takes you out of commission. A basic family emergency binder...safe places to go, rally points, etc, etc, etc.

The time to think of these things is not when you're in the middle of a meltdown.

Every city and corporations all have an Emergency Operations binder. Covers everything from fire, flood, power outage, etc.

I've seen these ideas before and was thinking about this a lot during chaos of covid. Even more so after my dad passed a year ago, had a hard time getting into his online accounts, and I'm finding tax issues coming up because i can't find tax forms i need to do his last tax filing and then the estate probate.
I myself have always used spreadsheets to track much of my finances but there test of the information in a binder like this are things we really don't think of. I should really put one of these together.

How do you structure conditional gifts to avoid sabotage by any 3rd party? For instance, lets say that you gift money to a child upon their wedding and someone, who might benefit from that gift should that condition not be met, actively undermines the personal relationships of the intended recipient? With the way wealth taxes are shaping up in New York and California, it becomes more and more believable that a state actor would take a hostile interest in your rightful beneficiaries. Privacy and secrecy being increasingly difficult to maintain.

Unfortunately I had to use the powers granted to me to help a friend pass beyond this world after she was incapacitated. We made the decision not the hospital due to having the Durable Medical Power of attorney. Several years ago we used it to have a stent put in for the lady.

It has multiple uses. Great info.

Hi, which method can prevent Medicaid from disqualifying a home owner if they receive/own or transfer a house?
A life estate won’t work due to disqualifying period and waiting years and an irrevocable trust might not get step up basis?
Being a secondary trustee might work?
