I hope MacArthur told Trump the gospel to save his soul which is more important than helping Trump win an election. Politics is temporal not eternal that's why preaching the gospel is more important than politics

Seeing which party is persecuting the church is enough for me on who to vote for.

As a Christian, you have liberty to vote for who you want to. We can't stand behind racists and racism !

I Vote for the party who doesn’t believe in killing the unborn, they have no voice. I can never stop fighting for them.

I agree with Dr. McArthur. I left the democrat party in 1986 and have NEVER regretted it. I am PROUDLY Pro-Life and I will NOT vote for a party that supports abortion. I also align more with the overall policies of the Republican Party, so I am Not a single issue voter, but for me, without the right to life, there are no other rights. I will NOT vote against the unborn. PERIOD.

I do wish the President would listen to John MacArthur on the subject of the true Gospel and point the way to Salvation rather than these prosperity heretics he has surrounding him.

Also Pastor John wasnt saying that Republican party isnt Christian. He’s just saying that a Christian could not vote Dem because of abortion and gay “marriage”.

Keller is full on woke, and preaching it . I think you should investigate what he’s teaching before using him to contrast MacArthur . MacArthur stands firm in the Lord, but he’s no fool either . We aren’t electing a pastor or even a Christian . But somebody who will promote our best interests . Who will uphold the laws of the land and promote peace and prosperity for the people

I really appreciate this video on MacArthur and Keller’s view on political parties and voting for them. When I first became a Christian I listened and read much MacArthur and from 1995 till about 2003 I attended Redeemer Church where Keller preached. In fact, he married my wife and I in 1996.
I say this to demonstrate my affection for both men although I have been disappointed of late by Tim Keller.
I agree with Pastor John on this matter and while I appreciated you informing us of some of Trump’s positions, in John’s statement he was clear that it wasn’t support so much for Trump but for the Republican platform.
As for Tim, I agree with a few things he said regarding the importance of racial reconciliation and other topics he mentions, but I cannot equate those topics to the daily murder of children at the hands of abortionists.
Thanks again.

John McArthur is coming from a biblical perspective of which is the lesser evil - Biden or Trump? These two are the only options for the 2020 presidential election. Christians should be actively involved in politics: praying for our leaders and voting based on biblical values.

I'm prolife. I couldn't vote for any candidate who says "a woman can do what she wants with her body including the small body within her body" any more than I could vote for a candidate that says a woman has a right to kill her born baby. It's just a matter of the baby's location. BUT, MacArthur's view is too simplistic. People have sound reasons for not voting for Trump too. Sometimes voting for the lessor of two evils makes no sense.

I usually vote every 4 years for the next 4 years, so I am voting for the side that wants freedom, life, and liberty

John is correct. You cannot vote for someone promoting abortion or other ungodly acts. It isn't about being on "Trumps team" necessarily. I'm sure John would say the same thing had it been someone other than Trump in the same situation.

yes let's not get things twisted and have some convoluted idea that Donald Trump is a real Christian I mean I don't know what is in his heart I just see how he conducts himself and how he is as a president and I would take him 7 days a week and twice on Sunday over any Democrat

There are some very good points to consider on both sides. However, this election is not just about abortion or homosexuality. This election is about independence vs control, republic vs Marxism, nationalism vs globalism and one world government. The parties are diametrically opposed in these ideologies. So there is only one clear and rational choice. Freedom vs tyranny. We as Americans have NEVER in our history had to even consider giving up our freedom! It is incredibly sad that things have progressed to this in the Land of The Free and the Home of the Brave.

I agree with John MacArthur that a party's explicit positions on the various issue in our society and government are to be considered seriously by the true followers of Christ. In each election, I think that Christians should become aware of the issues and try to analyze in what ways they align with the truth of the Scriptures and vote accordingly and prayerfully, because often times the choices are not so clear and distinct.

Personally, ever since the Lord saved me I have found myself only able to support the GOP candidate in many instances not because they were personally blameless or perfect (fallen sinners like the all of us!), but rather because they offered a vision on the issues that were more biblically aligned than the liberal candidate.

Nothing and nobody is perfect, so we will never get a candidate that is perfect but we can always trust the Lord. I would not want to "wrap up" Christianity with the political parties, but at times the choices are more obvious and easier to make and it would appear that our convictions are wrapped up with a certain political party, but personally that would appear so not because deep convictions were ceded to the platform of a political party but rather because the particular platform aligned better and clearer with biblical truth.

In the case of president Trump, I did support him in 2016 and will support him again in 6 weeks. But my hope and faith is in the Lord, in God Almighty and in Him alone!

I thank you for your balanced discussion in presenting more than one perspective. Neither party's platform aligns perfectly with biblical principles. John MacArthur's position that the Republican party is THE party of Christianity not only sends the wrong message to non-beleivers, it sows discord amongst the body of believers. Yes, supporting the murder of unborn babies is morally reprehensible to God. But ignoring the unjust murder of hundreds of African-Americans at the hands of the police is offensive to God too. Pragmatically speaking, what difference does it make how vigorously you defend the rights of the unborn, if you fail to vigorously defend the sanctity of all lives outside of the womb? The truth of the matter is, Donald Trump has demonstrated a depraved indifference to life in his four years as president. In order to support Trump on "biblical " grounds, you have to ignore his unbiblical lack of intergrity, divisive hate-language and overall lack of moral intergrity. Therefore, "evangelicals" need to stop positing that the only "Christian" way to vote is to support Trump.

I am a Christian and find it interesting how we have turned a blind eye to indecency, corruption, discrimination etc. etc. all because of 2 issues: abortion and homosexuality. We call ourselves pro-life and fight for fetuses, yet we fail to keep up the fight when that fetus becomes a child. Should being pro-life not be from fetus to grave? The child who cannot get free education in the greatest nation on earth, the adult who has to declare bankruptcy because of medical bills were the fetuses we once fought for. Do we see the hypocrisy in all of this? The last I checked, we are called to preach the gospel and win souls for Christ. We are also called to stand up for the truth and be Christlike in all our ways. If we can fight against abortion and homosexuality but not fight for free medical, education, a livable minimum wage and demand decency from the highest office in our land, then we have failed, . We need a complete reappraisal of our sense of values!

A good survey of pastoral perspectives. Thank you! No one has a monopoly on Bible-based political wisdom. Neither of the main parties can adequately command allegiance from true Christians. Since we are called to be 'Light', how can we endorse darkness in any party?

We aren't voting for a Pastor.. we Are voting for the candidate who most represents our Christian values.. is what I have learned
