Man, the x-carve has come such a long way since I bought mine back in 2016. Inventables has been incredible all along with custom service and I'm excited to see the machine and the software getting better and better! If I had a big enough shop - I'd probably buy this new machine even with my existing one still working well (which I've made a couple of upgrades to along the way - like x-controller and solid x-axis). I don't have enough room for the new z-height in my current configuration, but the machine's looking great!

The new updates are definitely a step in the right direction. I just finished installing the update to mine, and although the "stiffeners" are great, there is still more side to side movement with these than with my small 1/8" 1" wide aluminum plates I had already installed. If you offered the stiffeners in black anodized aluminum with dual screws at the top and single at the bottom, you'd have a rock solid axis. Now add gantry side plates made of the same thickness as the new risers and this machine would be close to perfect.

I’m trying to carve out fairly large holes on HDPE plastic (about an inch thick) how well does it do it? I assume it’s all built into the software controlling it but will it layer the carvings until it’s a complete cut? I’m worried it’ll melt the plastic and then start sticking on the bit too much. I’m not a professional so I’m just trying to understand it since it looks user friendly.

Can you use other bits like spoilboard surfacing bit, roundover bits, roundover bits, keyhole bit or sphere burrs ?

Just can’t envision making the money back. Finding customers is always the hardest part and a big sunk cost at the beginning is a big barrier. Maybe someday…

Bought x-carve couple of years ago...My experience, If you need a toy for 2.5k € Then is the X-carve machine for you. Easel.. nah.. without internet in the shop..Forget it..
