Thanks for the great information! A tinted lip balm with SPF that I currently use and love is Kiehl’s Butterstick Lip Care SPF 25. There are a few shades, I like the Naturally Nude shade.

Dr Jenny! I just found this video and thank his for you. I’ve been dealing with really chapped and damaged lips for a month now. I’ve tried EVERYTHING. I’m so desperate and I’m going to try some of the products you mentioned. The only thing that is kind of working is the Clinique moisture surge lip treatment, but it still leaves me dry if I’m not consistently using it.

I turn 60 this Summer & the lip balm I currently use is The Naked Bee Orange Blossom and Honey lip Balm. It costs only $6 & I found that at Ace Hardware. However The Naked Bee also has their own website with a whole line of skin care. I find this lip balm works very well for me. I’ve also just recently found at Walmart that Neutrogena makes a lip mask to wear at night. It’s glossy but I find it stays on pretty well.

As a guy who lives in the northern US where the winters get pretty darn harsh and the air gets super dry during the winter the 1 lip balm I allways come back to as something I know will always just work is Burts beeswax. I've had good experiences with O'Keefes lip balm and working hands as well. Their working hands hand cream in particular is like magic in a jar (had to use it during my dishwasher days, my hands would get so bad they would crack and bleed.) That was years ago so the formulation could have changed but the O'keefes hand cream I used to use completely solved my cracked, bleeding hands so quickly. Amazing stuff if it hasnt changed at all.

Hi Dr. Liu. Just wanted to ask, is it okay to use "vitamin A and D ointment" as forever lipbalm? I have tried it for a week and it works really really good. No lipbalm has work wonders like A&D ointment to my lips so far. Is it okay to use for a long time as lipbalm? Hope you notice this. Ty

With the EltaMD one, the octinoxate ingredient is one of the two banned in Hawaii (the other being oxybenzone) because of the damage it does to coral reefs. I’m hoping other places will follow suit.

My cousin wants me to make a natural lip balm for his 95 year old mother who has been waking up in the mornings with her dry lips stuck together.
I planned on making a lip balm with beeswax, coconut oil, Shae oil and vitamin E. What are your thoughts on these ingredients? Any suggestions? TIA
