This is a guide to the fight P8S Phase 2 (Hephaistos) in the game Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV).

As this guide is coming out quite a while after release, PF in your region might be doing mechanics slightly or totally differently. This guide is to help explain how the different mechanics work and suggest at least one way of resolving them. Other better strats will likely be discovered (or already exist) but this guide shows what worked best for me.

0:00 Introduction
2:18 Natural Alignment 1
10:32 High Concept (Alchemy Explained)
12:42 High Concept 1
17:29 Limitless Desolation
19:14 Natural Alignment 2 (Inverse Magicks)
21:51 High Concept 2
26:56 Dominion (Soft Enrage)
29:32 Special Thanks!

Important note for people doing this fight in PF: My NA strat (1-tile) is not currently common in PF. Joonbob has recently put out a video showing the Scripe(Echo) strat that is far more common, so I recommend giving that a watch before jumping into a phase 2 party.

I'm glad you've been picking up some steam recently, it's so funny seeing "Hector strats" in PFs now. You're with the big boys now!

Thank you, Hector. Regardless of whether data centres/worlds have different strategies of resolving mechanics, I always come back to you because I have not seen anyone else explain *mechanics* so thoroughly. It's frustrating seeing guides that tell you the solution, but not the problem. Keep doing what you do!

I like these guides as they give the mechanics in 'IF >>> THEN' format, which is incredibly easy for me to understand.

My raid lead (who's awesome) wont do this so I have to get my lizzard-level intelligent brain to figure out what the fudgenuggetz they're saying.

IF you have Short Timer Alpha, THEN go to A
IF you have Short Timer Beta, THEN go to B
IF you have Short timer Gamma, THEN go to C

is easy to get down. Then when I see "alpha, 8 seconds" I know exactly where to go in an instant rather than trying to calculate 50 different things.

soooo much easier to understand.

Very nice guide! My only critique is that for High Concept I think explaining debuffs in terms of MT / OT might trip up some people since it seems like the debuffs are completely random - DPS can get Supersplice / Multisplice debuffs

How is this guide not PF strat... clock, scripe NA with joonbob prio, rinon HC, braindead/hime limitless, static NA2 THRM... wtf it is all basically a slight variation of this video besides the scripe(echo) thing which I don't even think is easier. why pf does this random permutation of everyone else's guides/strats is so stupid.

Thank you for all your guides man, i decided to try this tier all PF. And your guides help me a lot to survive the Madness that can be PF. P8S cleared finally.

When Hector's guide video is 30 minutes long, you know this fight is serious af

So many bonus points for highlighting how important it is to mitigate at the end there. Mitigation has been a real pain point this tier, as I think a lot of players are not used to it being the difference between clearing and wiping, so I appreciate any efforts to bring attention to this

Another fantastic guide, thanks Hector!

You explain really well, but this looks like is going to be hell.

The raidwide is pronounced "Eye-O-NE-O-Peer." It means "Eternal flame" and is taken from the words "Aionios" and "Pyr."

Just if anyone was curious about it. :3

Great as always. For the towers, have you seen the Hydi Ai (AKA Haijia) strat? The odd towers are always in the north and the even towers 1 line more south so you can make the puddle bait positioning algorithmic (like a simple limit cut) instead of chaotic.

Hector, your HC2 is described so damn well. Thank you

The Raidwide is pronounced I - O - Neo - Pee and roughly translates to "Eternal Flame/Fire".
Love all of your guides and really hope the community can all agree soon that you are *the* guy for guides for hard content.

I believe the first raidwide would be pronounced "eye-on-ee-oh-pyre"
