This is an older book, but I always recommend it. The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson. I read a lot of these books and am not usually surprised by anything, but this book had a twist I never saw coming and a perfect ending. I loved this book.

I love anything and everything by Harlan Coben especially "The Woods", which I started and finished yesterday. Look Closer by David Ellis is one of the best books ever. I've heard great things about John Marrs What Lies Between Us. If you've never read any of the Lee Child Jack Reacher series, they are good fast-paced action-packed thrillers. You can start with the first one which is Killing Floor, or jump in toward the middle and do 61 Hours which is my favorite so far.

I loved "Never Lie" by Frieda McFadden. It's the first book I read by this author and it gripped me right away. It surprised me because I thought I had the entire plot figured out half way through the book and was like "jeez, how simplistic and predictable!" Then the plot turned and turned and I was like WTF just happened?!? Totally didn't see that coming. Great read!
I'm now about half way through "The Housemaid" and I can firmly say this author is solid. I can't put her books down!

Hey Ashley 👋
I have some recommendations for you and if you'll just listen to me you won't regret it!!!
It's a series by David Ellis:
The Black Book
The Red Book
Escape
You will get closure at the ends, no cliffhanger.
The Twist in the first book shocked me to the extent that I closed the book, took a break to calm myself and then I got back to it.

SHARI LAPENA!! I would have to say she’s one of the best Canadian writers I’ve come across. Her books are super popular at the library I work at and now that I’ve read five of her books this year so far, I am recommending them to everyone! I have two more here to read this weekend but I got sidetracked by another great thriller and Canadian author, Samantha Bailey! She’s fairly new so only two books published, third comes out next month but you can read it for free with a prime membership for the month of February! I’m halfway thru it. I really enjoyed watch out for her. Her first book, woman on the edge was good but not as good. Now her latest that I am reading on my kindle app is ok, we shall see how it ends. Shari Lapena seems pretty high caliber for a Canadian writer. My favorite so far is probably someone we know. The couple next door was also pretty good and all of her books for me can be read in two days easily. The unwanted guest was kind of Agatha Christie-ish to me. All of them keep you guessing until the end! Where do there people come up with their plot ideas? I am really wanting to read the Taylor adams one you mentioned here about the author getting pissed at a one star review! I had to chuckle, I’ve been adding your recommendations to my good reads and the day after I added Taylor adams no exit, someone donated a paperback copy to the library. I LOVE working at the library as I get to see all donations for our books sales first hand and I buy a ton of them myself! I have a book collection of about two thousand plus I operate a free little library in the summer months at my cabin at the lake.

I read Look Closer based on your previous recommendation, and I loved it. It was a 5 star read for me. 😊
You are spot on about Riley Sager’s writing. I can’t figure out if I like his books or not anymore. lol.
We are also on the same page with Freida McFadden, fun easy books to read. 📚 I feel I like similar books to you, so I really appreciate your recommendations. 🎉

Some of my favourite backlist thrillers:
How to Disappear by Gillian McAllister
The One by John Marrs
Stranded by Sarah Goodwin
I Know What You've Done by Dorothy Koomson
As Long As We Both Shall Live by JoAnn Chaney
Stillhouse Lake by Rachel Caine
The Nothing Man by Catherine Ryan Howard
Playing Nice by JP Delaney
The Last Thing to Burn by Will Dean
The Son by Jo Nesbo
The Passengers by John Marrs
Thirteen by Steve Cavanagh

Some of these are a bit over the top because I tend to enjoy that! No idea if any of these are your reading tastes but I guess the synopsis should help?
Wishing you luck!!!

Hey Ashley.

I canno't recommend anything by Irish thriller writer and ex lawyer Steve Cavanagh highly enough wether it's his legal thriller Eddie Flynn series or one of hius many standalones be it 13, twisted or his most recent standalone Kill for me, kill for you which is a reimagining of strangers on a train for the modern era which is out now in the U.K or on March 20th in the your neck of the woods in the U.S.

I would also highly recommend Canadian high concept thriller writer Linwood Barclay, his stuff is so good that it has had me so freaked out at times I've had to check that the doors and windows are locked properly before bed. Give No Time For Goodbye, Elevator Pitch or TOO Close To Home a try if you go down the Linwood Barclay rabbit Hole.

Happy reading from a scottish fan of your channel.
