Side note: there is only 1 SDI port still BECAUSE now the Komodo X is compatible with the official RED Touch monitor that connects wirelessly to the camera. Which means, you can have a monitor, and still have your SDI port available for EVF 😊

About your rig, not clear to me how are you powering your camera, via the tilta plate and dtap? I find great that we can just plug a vlock and shot but haveing more power/sdi solutions its a plus. Im guessing the tilta plate has more than one dtap so we can feed power to a follow focus, a monitor, and a teradek for example? Thanks, cheers!

Hey, great video! I think you missed including the link to your shark fin V mount adapter though. That recommendation would be really appreciated, as I have heard bad things about the core shark fin and that's the only one I've found.

Another great video, I'm curious if you can only choose between the Canon C500 MKII and the Komdo X to shoot a feature film what camera would you choose? I understand about RED Raw vs Canon Raw but from you're personal experience outside of specs on paper does the Komdo has any edge on C500 when you bring footage into you're NLE

How can you say the og komodo is not worthy of being an A camera for production? I'm filming a tv show off and haven't had any problems. I think alot of people don't understand reds traffic lights. And people coming from dslr need to understand iso means nothing on red.

What the Komodo X is, is that it's an overpriced Komodo. It more of a Komodo Mark II than a different tier of camera. But I guess people don't care either way. It's a Red.

The OG Komodo is not discontinued. It is still a current model in Red’s lineup. You seem to refer to the OG in past tense.

That said, as someone that has no use for in-camera audio or high frame rates; but does value size/weight, the Komodo-X is a big disappointment.

The Komodo was not designed as an A-cam… it was designed to be a crash cam. For me that integrated V-Mount makes the Komodo-X too large for the original intended purpose. I think if you need an A-cam, just get a Raptor. YMMV.

What I really want is a OG Komodo with built in eVND. Perhaps the currently in development Komodo Mk2 will check this box?

Still no decent AF for solo operators, a 67% price increase and the rest is are expected but not "mind blowing" improvements. The Komodo was a decent entry level cam for a more or less decent price. I really hope RED fails with the price policy and the Komodo X falls behind sales expectations.
