Synopsis:
Two lonely strangers land jobs working for a mysterious spy agency that offers them a glorious life of espionage, wealth, world travel, and a dream brownstone in Manhattan. The catch? It got suuuuper undervalued on IMDB. The writing was brilliant. And I honestly loved the way they humanized the agents so much. The explosive moments are less action-filled, but they feel grounded and realistic. Except the last episode, there were some things that made me uneasy as far as if they dropped the ball with some of the conclusions or if it was brilliant. I teeter back and forth on it. It was really well done overall. There are suuuper immersive moments in the show.

Definitely enjoyed the show haven’t finished it yet but I’m enjoying it so far. It’s fun with a flare of mystery from Mr. Hi Hi. I think the couple have a natural chemistry. It’s funny watching them get to know each other while being “married” and stuck together doing these missions. Had to tune in cause Donald Glover is my guy & continued to watch because of the acting & direction 🤗

Show was very well written I especially liked episodes 5. Glover and Erskine had a great connection and when they had their moments whether it was an argument or heartfelt it was very intense and touching. The fact that most of their dialogue during their arguments were improvised is really impressive and showed a genuine connection that grew as the episodes played out. I also really really loved the “spy” world they operated in with the all knowing and manipulative “company” that employed them and how it impacted their relationship. I noticed that whenever the two were truly connected and worked together they seemed to find a way to succeed versus trying to accomplish their goals on their own This show is worth the watch especially for those who can get out of their own way in trying to compare it to the movie that didn’t have nearly the time or depth to dive into what relationships are like when the lead characters are blowing up buildings with wild gun fights with rocket launchers while weary sexy underwear.

FYI. The 2005 Mr and Mrs Smith is not the original. There was a series in the 90s and a film in 1941

Loved it, not sure how it will be received but it was a great take on two broken people trying to make a life, and in that process find love.

Once I figured out their are Many different Mr and Mrs Smith teams around the world, I wasn’t so hung up on the movie version.
Each team -couples story is different. Things only get hairy for Agents when they become the hunted by HiHi.

I did enjoy the series. I came for the action and stayed to enjoy the development of the relationship of John and Jane.
The last episode is an amazing roller coaster of emotions with an remarkable happy ending. Well done Donald Glover and Maya Erskine!

Mr. and Mrs.Smith Movie is what 1977s Suspiria is to its 2018 remake with the TV Series…I love the original Susperia but a lot of what makes it iconic happens late in the 3rd act which is awesome a nightmare of bright colors but the 2018 pushes the cinematography, story, characters in a direction that is more intriguing than the original…. the exact same thing can be said about Mr. and Mrs. Smith the Film vs TV Show… I only saw the film maybe three times and the only thing that I seem to remember is them attacking each other inside the house…that’s it. There’s no other big iconic pieces from that film that resonate with me except for maybe the house exploding… now the TV show takes the house exploding and reimagines it in a dark way, and from there, the rules that have been laid out the understanding that there are only three times they can mess up a mission, opening with previous agents getting knocked off setting the stage for the audience to be worried about our protagonists because we know what happens to people that go against the system…It’s setting up a way more fascinating world than the movie could do with it’s two hour runtime… what I’m getting is a creator and the main visual Director of Atlanta coming together to make a spy, thriller action series with heavy French influence in terms of cinematography it’s everything that I hoped this series would be.

I suggest you watch Mr & Mrs Smith it in a non-linear order. The plot is too simple to be linear. Try this sequence:
> **Episode 6**: tone and conflict.
> **Episodes 1-3**: backstory and contrast.
> **Episode 7**: climax and choice.
> **Episodes 4 and 8**: resolution and epilogue.

> Skip **Episode 5**: boring and irrelevant.

I like the movie a lot but I'll readily admit it wasnt a great movie. Just a fun movie with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The new series has way more substance, and I enjoyed it a lot. It doesnt seem like an either/or thing to me, I like them both for different reasons. What would really be fun if they get picked up for another season is if they could get Brad and/or Angelina in it for a cameo as another set of Smiths, like Skarsgard and Eiza Gonzalez. Unlikely, lol, but they should lean into bringing in different more Smiths.

LOVED the 2005 movie. Was so excited after seeing the trailer of this new show. Fast forward to plopping down on the couch to watch... reaction from my husband and I = wth. This series was not portrayed as an awkward, slow and underwhelming series. I think if the trailer and promos had been honest, it would have changed the expectations/ reaction. Additionally, it just didn't seem like a 'spy' concept. They wrote these characters to be way too awkward (like no interaction tactics at all), too openly emotionally raw, talking to eachother about themselves while trying to be inconspicuous on their 'spy missions', etc. I WANTED so badly to like this because I think the actors did such a great job with the weak writing/ imagination that was provided... but ultimately it's just another drama series that sluggishly entered a race with no sight to the finish line for us. 3/10
