I was really stressed during those parts, I don't think I have schizophrenia but I sometimes have vivid dreams about reality thats somehow different which can make it hard to tell if im in the real world or not sometimes.

There was an episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer where a monster of the week hits Buffy with a spell that gives her the delusion that she has just woken up from a two year coma and all of her adventures were delusions.

Anxiety on existence is very normal and common. Just wanted to throw that out there. It can also be a sign of OCD, adhd, and trauma. So don’t feel bad or stupid for questioning thoughts. We all need to take care of our perception everyday. I’ve driven myself mad thinking about religion, matrix, manifesting and so on. Talking with a trusted friend or family member definitely helps. Stay grounded everyone 🌳

Whoah! I can’t wait to see the new matrix now.. a bit anxious to watch knowing the truth behind it but definitely intrigued to learn more ♥️ Thanks for sharing, Lauren! Much love 💜💜

When I was watching the movie I was almost thinking the same thing, how intense it must be for someone with schizophrenia/schizoactive disorder - especially when their delusions are of a similar kind as Neo's. It truly made me feel uncomfortable...

I’m sorry you had to go through that. But thank you so much for the warning!

I have schizo affective disorder and I loved the movie. Out made me laugh because I love Keanu Reeves and seeing Neo depicting the psychosis was so spot on to what I deal with daily. So yes seeing him in the delusion triggered me because of my delusions but it was super entertaining, and I am practicing understanding what's a movie, and what's a delusion. I was triggered and had to watch it in 2 parts on HBO Max, so half one day some days in between where I could cope, and then finished it when I was ready. And the ending was SO worth it!!!

Interesting topic I also have schizo affective disorder. I haven’t seen the movie but I also think we are in a matrix or simulation. I am intrigued to watch it. I love your video clips as I have similar hallucinations and delusions

Lauren you have some great videos, and with your haircut you look uncannily like MMA fighter Rose Namajunas. That's a compliment, as you are both badasses in your own respective ways 💪🔥🖤

omg yes!!! Just watched this weekend and was like, wow could this be any worse for my delusion? It actually made me use my nuance finding skills big time which helped. I think psychosis is largely jumping to conclusions so it was good to see something so seemingly similar because it required me to try to be calm and dissect my delusion more.

One of the things my daughter did from the time she was a little girl was go to moves. She was afflicted with mental illness at 17, eventually diagnosed as schizoaffective. I found that after she became mentally ill that she no longer has the attention span to sit through an entire movie. Even watching an hour long tv show is a struggle, but she really does not enjoy watching tv.

I wanna hear more about what you think! Unless of course it’s too triggering. I have to admit it’s kind of triggering for me with my depression .

Yeah. It's very triggering. I had to explain a beloved person of mine that there's a whole different story about the story to make him feel a little bit less anxious

Now What
(A schizophrenics plea)
Have you ever lost reality?
Has everything in your life gone crazy, including your mentality?
Have you ever been lost in a familiar town?
Do you ever feel like the jokes being played on you, by everyone around?
Have you ever begged the voices to go away?
But they keep tormenting, no matter how much you pray?
Did you ever just ask for someone to tell you why this is happening to you?
Yet when they tell you, they then turn it upside down, making suicide the only thing you can do?
Have they ever pushed you to the edge?
Sending you out on to that ledge?
You can't see them, but you can hear them, telling your worthless ass to jump?
Yet you're to scared, so all you can do is hit yourself till your head is one big lump?
Then 7 hospitals and 7 straight jackets latter, they finally tell you what's wrong with ya...
And it's fucking schizophrenia!
Now what?

I never watched The Matrix until I was well, and then when I watched it I was shocked at how many of my delusions the show would have hit on. 🤦‍♀️😅

Movies like this I steer away from, I never saw the first one to be honest. Classic films like THX1138 & Logan's Run make me paranoid enough as it is.

Hey, Lauren can you maybe talk about 12 Monkeys, if it's not too triggering for you? It's an excellent Gilliam sci-fi film that also acts as a psychological thriller. It takes a very critical look at mental hospitals and antipsychotic medication (particularly first-generation) as well as how society views mental illness (particularly paranoid schizophrenia) in the context of people who are time travelers being thought of as crazy. Be warned that it does have some very intense scenes of medication side effects, restraint, etc. It also is about a worldwide deadly pandemic of apocalypse-inducing proportions, so it might be scary considering what's going on today. But Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt both give their best performances of their careers IMO, and there's even a few celebrity/bit-part actor cameos if you watch closely. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. BTW I love the 1st Matrix movie and think it's brilliant, as you probably can tell by my pfp. I thought Resurrections was an improvement on the sequels, which honestly were kind of meh. I thought it (Resurrections) was trying to be a little too "meta"/"on the nose" at times and it came off as kind of cringeworthy, but I really liked the psychological element of it too. It gave Neo more depth as a character, which I thought was pretty lacking (probably part in due to Keanu's indifferent performance) in the previous films.
