The long-awaited moment has finally arrived: BOSS’s ME-90 multi-effects pedal is here. Armed with eight multifunction switches, an expression pedal, and a suite of tone-crafting tools, the ME-90 is a one-stop shop for maximizing sonic potential with a minimal footprint. Oh, did we forget to mention it’s loaded with AIRD amp models? Don Carr put the ME-90 through its paces to find out if it’s been worth the wait. Check it out!

I used the ME 70 for about 4-5 years and LOVED IT!!! I never had the chance to try the ME 80 and the ME 90 was my latest purchase. What I love about it is that it has all the sounds we all love from the ME 70 and also, the EQ is VERY responsive and sensitive! If you know how to EQ a good tone, it’s a WONDERFUL unit! It’s like an amp, not amps and effects, you have what you need and it’s more than enough!

When I’m playing guitar I don’t want to dive through digital menus… the ME90’s genius is the simplicity of direct switches, as if you’ve got 150 pedals but they’re not buried in complicated menus.

So easy.

I’m a single channel kinda’ fellow,
-this thing is pretty rad man!!
I dig how you have the separation of the eq’s above the footswitches.
-that’s dope AF Boss!

Got mine in as soon as Sweetwater had them available. Arrived Thursday went out with it Friday. Absolutely the best multi effects pedal for me. Easy to use. Sounds GREAT. I love my ME-90!!

I figured out what needs to be done to get these better sounds, there are too many levels and gain stages and it gets nasty sounding if they are up higher. Use the X crunch, gain 3/4, (level no more than half way, ) you need to turn on the eq /fx 2 always. It’s the” post” eq . Lower that level below half , now you have a cleaner headroom . Now use the main output at its highest range, 3/4 or more, this will balance the gain stages . Add a Ts od, if needed for metal, gain off, level below half, tone past half . Keep both eqs knobs moderate, boost or cut. This is for di, line to pa. Also raise the gate to 50.

I have the m-80 and love it! I didn’t think I’d be interested in the me-90 11:03 but I’m definitely getting it! It sounds great and has features from the gt line.

Yeah…. So ordering this. I kept asking people for recs on a cool multi effects pedal with a lot of “weird” stuff on it, and people kept thinking I meant different amp heads+cab options…. But I meant this to a tee! Diatonic stuff, cool delay, spacey effects… just aweaome

this is exactly what I've waited for. right fx, sound, flexibility, and cost. I will be selling my pedal board & buying this right after. finally! I play in a band & record solo at home. this will be perfect.

Thanks Don! Excellent tutorial and great playing! I'm planning on using this multi-effects with a Gibson SG and a Fender Twin Reverb. That first sound you got- the rip-roaring jet engine start up sound (mayybe a mixture of flanger, diistortion, and reverb?)- sold me on the board. Thanks again. Cheers.

I really like the ME series over the newer sleek models without knobs, staying true to the 80s vibe aesthetics is a total win imo and obviously makes for a more straight forward experience. Another reason is that it reminds me of the movie Predator lol..those alien signs

I had sold my ME-80 and regretted it. Before this came out I was hoping Boss would upgrade the ME to have all the new AIRD models. Curious why they didn't continue the 00 theme by calling it the ME-100?
Anyway, I got impatient and got a used POD Go. All (well, most) of the Helix models for a much more reasonable price! Honestly, there isn't a bad modeler on the market these days.
I will probably pick one of these up eventually as I'm replacing my tube amps. Hard to justify them anymore!

I have the me80 which is basically the same. Your video was so informative and perfect to understand. It has shown me options that I had never quite understood. Thank you

Excellent review!... but... unless I missed it, no mention was made of the extra amp models and effects available when editing with BTS under the type "Selectable". I bought the ME-90 immediately it was released, and well done Boss! Talk about hitting the Bullseye! There are quite a few more amps and effects available when you use the PC editor. These extra amps etc are not selectable from the front panel (manual mode) but can be used in any patches you create (memory mode).
