There are so many things I love about this clip. 1) How heartbroken Evie looks after she thinks it didn't work. 2) The smile Doug gives her when she isn't looking. It is so beautiful and you can see how at peace he is because he now knows that she loves him too. 3) The way Doug stops laughing immediately after realizing that Evie is mad at his little prank because she was worried he didn't love her. 4) The fact that Doug only nudges her as a form of comfort even though they just kissed and he knows that she loves him. He respects her boundaries and does not try to force any more physical affection on her in case she isn't ready for it.
I only wish we got to see the conversation after this!! It has got to be the cutest thing in the universe!

I think that this is not their first kiss, in the movie they never say they haven't kissed, they just haven't said they love each other. She was afraid to kiss him and see that it really wasn't true love. In fact, in the second movie when they are on the Island, Evie tells Mal "we were both undone by true love's kiss" which implies that both couples had already kissed, Evie believed it was true love but there was still no moment in which it was proved that it was so. It finally arrived and that's why Evie was afraid that in the end it wouldn't true love.
