In our GW's new Direction video, we were pumped about some new updates that would come out, most importantly gameplay modes like solo and Co-op. We look at the new Killteam Hivestorm box and see if the set is worth the hype.

This is the other kind of videos that we need. At least in my case I will believe more your review than any other youtuber

The larger buildings on the box remind me of the larger buildings in the 9th Edition Extremis launch box. They might very well be recycled. Also, this isn't technically GWs first attempt at something like solo play. Warcry had solo scenarios back in 2020 and honestly were probably better than what they did for this box. I hope they go further with it and improve it, but it's a little lackluster and lacks options as you guys mentioned. GW also put a post today about a new starter box for Kill Team that has all recycled models and a first, MDF terrain. Would love to hear your take on it.

Sunny's comment about getting an Xbox is actually a really good one. You can buy a lot of entertainment for even what a 1k point army will cost you.

i hope they release an expansion for the mode either in white dwarf or as a book or something.

One thing I don't see anyone mentioning are the campaign rules.
I like that my heroes could level up in the previous edition and could expand their rules and get a cool base. Do campaign rules still exist?

I'm excited about the new Killteam Box coming out. I'm new to WH 40k, just started painting a few random mini's for practice. I planned on making a Deathguard army to paint, but was also trying to figure what I needed to actually play the game, what books, etc. The new Killteam box coming out (Primaris Marines vs. Deathguard) is perfect for me, I think?

With Killteam moving in a direction of more diverse teams (hopefully) we could get a Tau Stealth Suit team with two XV-25 Stealth suits and a bunch of XV-15s. It would be even better if each new Killteam came with a little booklet of bespoke NPO behavior and special rules, then every Killteam player has a reason to buy every Killteam box.

I am really hoping they release these kill teams in their own separate boxes. It would be a crime to lock off a Tau faction to a box when they only just started pushing the covenant aspect to Tau.

Have a buddy who works for GW and got the box with discount for himself. I knew he didn’t want the Vespids and that I could buy them off cheap🙃

The vespids and scions look nice but I’m nit sure if I can justify buying the box with so much of the price being inflated by terrain that I feel like I already have (ruins and more ruins) or could easily make. Barbed wire is easy and so are barricades. The hardest part is going to be finding someone I know that bought the set so I can measure and make sure that I build to the right dimensions

There were some PvE in Blackstone Fortress. So Kill Team's PvE isn't "first try". I think they will release a separate expansion for PvE.

Even if I wanted to get it, I could never afford it as a non-working Teen & my dad would laugh me out of the house if I said I wanted to spend R3000 on a game.

Bought the set as my entry into wh40k and am mostly happy with it so far.
I have yet to build the Vespids, but i have to agree with the building of the Aquilons being really annoying - and i honestly think that the'yre also way too detailed and hard to paint for a set directed at people new to tabletops.
Another issue i have had is that the Vespid's wings get damaged really easily out of the box.
Pricing is quite good for GW imo - they even included the Equpiment Pack

There is a Reddit post complete with cards for NPC behaviour for the old kill team that I've been using for a year now. Then I home-brewed the rest.

The AI in this is very similiar/less than OPR's pve rule

I am disappointed with GW. One of my Vespid sprues was missing a piece, specifically the thorax piece for the stealth operative. GW took a week to reply to my email, only to refer me to my local store. The box was factory sealed so I view this as a manufacturer issue. I don't feel my friendly local game store should have to deal with this issue.

It's really sad that Poorhammer's: Horde Mode is so much more interesting and conprehensive than that of the multi-million dollar company.
