Intro to Standard Stats, Goals, Assists, Points and More | NHL 101

Are you new to hockey and confused about what all these stats you keep hearing and seeing are? Stats are an important part of todays sports world. Even if what a stat means is strait forward, how a player gets them may not be. Goals, Assists, Points the dreaded +/- and more we go over some of the most commonly used ones in the NHL. And don't worry if you have no idea what a good season total is for any given stat I'll try to give you a place to start their as well.

I'm from Scotland, my boyfriend lives in Detroit and is a HUGE hockey fan. He took me to a red wings game and I enjoyed it way more than I thought it would. Really thought I was just gonna be the girlfriend who didn't really care but supported bc of my bf, but I actually really like it and want to learn about it for myself! I think plus minus is a good stat for defensemen. Who are often overshadowed by forwards in other stat areas.
