Scientists find invisible nanoplastic particles in bottled water

The average liter of bottled water has nearly a quarter million invisible pieces of ever so tiny nanoplastics, detected and categorized for the first time by a microscope using dual lasers.

Pure greed is what I thought when they first started to sell us our free water and then put it in plastic, knowing it's harmful is Criminal imo.

Are the plastics a function of the bottling process or the source? I assume a combo of both but to what degree does each contribute?

So the little tube thing used to take a drop of water from the bottle does not have any foreign particles in them? I mean once you use a different peace of equipment to bring a certain under the microscope, you’ve already exposed it to several other particles in the process. So how do you differentiate the nano plastics from the water bottle itself from other nano plastics all around the lab. I’m an average consumer. Please dumb it down for me

I'm sure when plastic drink bottles 1st came out people were concerned about tiny pieces of plastic ending up in the drinks, and they were told that they didn't understand science and that polymers don't dissolve in water and everything was OK and to trust the innovation, and 60+ years later look where we are... Naysayers were right, pieces are in our drinks.
