BMW R 1150 GS starting issue and battery drain is more than likely a hall effect sensor issue so in this episode, I show how the bike is having starting issues and will explain how I plan to fix it for the next episode.

Backstory: I've bought it as a project motorcycle so that I could start adventure motorcycle riding and become an Adventure Bike Rider, bringing another element to this channel. I need to mention I bought it off the internet without seeing it for £2295 and this was the cheapest at the time and that's because It had no service history with it, so this is all a new experience and an exciting one at the same time.

Absolutely positively sure it is the bloody HES unit. What a royal pain. For the record, I would not in anyway complain if you took off the month of January from video making. The worst thing about making videos and working on a motorcycle is doing so in the freezing cold of a January garage. Stay warm mate and we’ll talk soon!

Hi Mal, not a Hall sensor related. When removing/install the fuel tank always check for correct positon of the bowden cable, they have to seat correctly into the rigging "nut"of the throttle body.
I don't remember if your BMW is a twin spark, if is a twin the first to point the finger are the stick coil. To check the Hall sensor put both injector in a trasparent plastic bottle and cranck the engine, if they spray in accordance with the engine revolution the sensor are ok. Always when you reconnect the battery do a ECU reset procedure. Second step, check the starter motor for clean and lubrication.

Ciao ;)
