Warning! As a piano student learning one of these, do not even attempt if your hand cannot reach a ninth! Big, fast octaves approaching!

Step by Step Guide on how to play these:

1: Crack your knuckles
2: Drink 5 cans of RedBull
3: Drink 15 shots of coffee
4: Snort 5 lines of cocaine, each being EXACTLY 1 foot long (if you do any more, you might accidentally play Hungarian Rhapsody #2 by Liszt).

Good luck.

The last page of the last prelude is insanely hard! Fun tho...

The begining of the second prelude is very similar to the second prelude in a minor by Chopin.

The recording by Gershwin himself is avaible (on Youtube or IMSLP)
It's interesting to compare the score music and the performance by the composer (it's possible with certain works by Bartok, Ravel, Poulenc...)
I love your channel et I spend lot of time to watch Chopin. What an enormous work you did. Thank so much.

Amazing how he plays these preludes. I gave the third one a try and uploaded it on YouTube here on my channel. After listening to Zimerman I think I need to go back to practice =D

Marvellous interpretation, even more groovy and beautiful than the one which maestro Gershwin recorded himself.

Zimerman's Gershwin preludes are really epic! I also like Hamelin's songbook :)

Wow, do these stand up well after all the years gone by! Still wonderful, beautiful, exciting, innovative music! Just heard an American pianist named Norman Krieger play the second prelude just beautifully right here in Salt Lake City!

effective deviations from the score (eg. grace notes in bar 2 leading to the Aflat) and the concluding bass note. Much more idiomatic than Kissin who is also outside of what we normally associate him with.

Humoresque brought me here. The wonderful Oscar Levant played the second and third.

This definitely has a New York City flavor which is exactly what it should have.  Ah for the days of hot chestnuts and the Automat.

Second Movement played in the brilliant mini-series: "The Plot Against America, " based on Philip Roth's novel.

Hay una reminiscencia del primer preludio en Frevo de Egberto Gismonti.

sublime playing. The 3rd prelude could be Rachmaninov!
