Antonio Guterres formally elected as UN chief

Former Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Guterres has been formally elected as the next UN Secretary General.

Guterres, who will take over from Ban Ki-moon on January 1, vowed to serve the cause of peace for the Syrian people.
