Step 1: Install descript software

It will take you to descript website,

Click ‘Get started’ & create your account

And descript will be downloaded to your computer

Click on the downloaded file to install the software

Step 2: Generate the AI voice for the text

Sign in to your descript account, select any option & click ‘Continue’

Now click ‘start a new project’, enter project name & click ‘create ‘project’

Now add text, click speaker ► Stock voices ► Select your AI voice

And it will automatically generate the voice.

Now you can edit the content & break the text line by line.

Step 3: Save the voice you Generated

Click Share ► Export ► Audio ►Export ►Save

And the voice will be saved.

Click on back button ► Overdub ► Get started

Enter your name, click ‘Conform’

Now click training script, you will find sample script.

Which you can use to record your voice for about 10 min

Once recorded, click speaker, select your name and play

And correct the unmatched words by clicking on it.

Step 2: Submit your voice recording to descript

Click ‘ Submit training date’, now record the data & click ‘submit’

And your voice will be ready in a day, if it is not ready again click ‘open recording’.

Step 3 : Generate your voice automatically

Open descript, create new project, add your text

Now click speaker and select your name.

Step 4: Save your generated voice

Click Share ► Export ► Audio ►Export ►Save

And the voice will be saved.

I only signed up to Descript 2 days ago (altho have done in the past and found it way too confusing). I generated my own voice yet spent like the last 4-5 hours trying to edit text from the transcription and the audio part didn't pick it up, and just went over the changes without any changes, so I went on a research spree on Google and Descript website and also on here. Found your video expecting it to be like every other video and I was totally mistaken. Now after 4-5 hours wasting my time working stuff out, your video hit the nail on the head with things I want to use DeScript for. Thank you very much for this video :-) Hugely appreciated -)

Explanations were well-paced, the "tone" was interpreted as an earnest desire to share a cool feature, modestly, inclusively, and without judgement or shaming language. The visual, step-by-step was very helpful too!! 💯 I also liked that there was no hidden agenda, and anything which needed paid for was illuminated forthrightly.

Being AuDHD, one of the ways I can best learn & absorb material includes a variety of options, usually simultaneously (audio, visual, hands on, etc.).

Having things read to me while I'm engaged in other activities is how I enjoy expanding my knowledge for a lot of things & I often find it to be an irritating &/or arduous task when I've got text I want read to me and the option of audio isn't readily available.

My pre-installed text-to-voice accessibility feature reads a LOT to me (in a slightly enhanced, yet- very robotic way).

I'm grateful for the tool, the ability to have things read to me- especially since I'm also finding that as I'm aging, being able to see things has become a challenge.

I find it frustrating though, with the need to select only paragraphs at a time to be read to me as I'm forced to either abandon whatever I'm listening to bc I'm unable to reselect new text to be read, forced to disconnect from whatever else I'm doing to reselect new text.

I can deal with the robotic voice as my alternative option is to not have things read to me.. but I think it would REALLY help to mentally grasp things if I were hearing things read to me in a voice that mimics my very own inner voice, the one that's inside my head as I think, imagine, process things, etc.

Another thing that I would find helpful is if this cool thing you've shared came in a handy app. I'm not one to drag my laptop around with me, drive with it, shop, go on hikes with it, etc.. so I'm definitely "Team Phone App" with this one.

QUESTIONS:
1. Do you know if there's an app available? If there isn't one, have you heard anything about one being developed & maybe when it's availability to the public would be?

2. Do you know if there's an application process for those who would qualify for a reduced subscription? (For example: students, seniors, veterans, low-income, etc.)

You have to record for 30 min to get good results. But 10 min works too.

I remember 2 years ago online interactive story companies were hiring people for voiceovers. This is cool, because people can add voices to videos, stories, etc.

I just hope it does not replace people. Like for jobs.
