The whole dang time that was happening I thought it was also the last date they’d written down because all of the arguments i heard said things like “They had to stop writing it down sometime”. In my mind they’d said all the stuff about the third world ending and then hadn’t bothered to write anything after that specific date in the calendar.

When i was in HS this was still a thing. The date wouldn't happen until i was out of HS a year and a half later. It was the first end o days thing i paid attention to... so i was concerned... but i still went about life as always with if it happens it happens... it doesn't it doesn't.

Since then i realized it was all bs and i haven't paid attention/ given credence to any end o days rhetoric/ media again

I had a classmate who bought into this stuff as well... but unlike me he gave up caring about school and needing to graduate. I dont know how he ended up... we never personally talked. I only know this because during class he effectively stated what's the point... the world is going to end in response to school work by the teacher.

This stuff causes real damage. And the people flagrantly selling this stuff for profit should be held to account

I was 11 at the time and my dads girlfriend at the time had a daughter my age that always told me 2012 was the end of the world. I argued with her almost every day about it with her back then. Eventually I bet her $100 that it was not the end of the world. I figured even if it was I wouldnt have to worry about paying her anyway. She agreed but my dad broke up with her mom 2 months before the end of the year and I never saw her again. Im waiting for the day I run into her so I can tell her "I told you so". I dont really care about the money she owes me because im 25 now but I just want her to acknowledge she was wrong.

i was like 10 years old and the entire school day i remember crying and panicking like every five seconds the teachers kept putting me in time out and confiscating the stuffed animal i brought to comfort me. i remember the only thing that actually worked to shut me up was when my dad picked me up from school and he said "it's already midnight in china, and the world hasn't ended" and im like yeah ur right oh my god.

I alway assumed they were planning on renewing the calendar if they ever had the chance. Also I was 10 in 2012 and was more focused on Christmas, it also helps that my parents didn’t believe that stuff likely due to Y2K.

I remember being in middle school. Everyone was holding hands and walking around the school. It’s something my old class of friends regularly bring up because it’s so weird looking back. Was the school trying to make us feel batter?
