This is in no way disrespecting Japanese people. The reason Avril Lavigne made that "hello kitty" song was because she is extremely famous in Japan. Now, because Charlie XCX translates her song into Japanese, are we going to take this or compare it to the level of Avril's song?
On the other hand, it would be more rude to just ignore the fan base over there. Charlie XCX did nothing wrong. Sure, her pronunciation is botched in about 3 places in the song, but other than that, it is not bad at all. Even though they could have asked her to sing it differently in the areas where she slurs like "kabe wo yabuete", it isn't that bad. Compared to the amount of engrish in EVERY japanese song (sekai no owari songs have english chorus, kyary has lots of english, kidori kidori is almost entirely english, vocaloid,  ect) American pop culture is very important in Japan and we need to let Japan know we recognize and care about them by doing things like this. Are we going to say "I will need 2 years of studying this language so I get a perfect accent to sing and by then my song will not be popular" or will we say "lets include Japan in our wave of popular songs so they can join in and enjoy good music with us"? Also, stop throwing around the word "Weeaboo" constantly when a famous person does anything related to Japan. Stop pretending like you are better than everyone because "you dont watch anime." This isn't anime. This is a country and a  entire society we are talking about. Not somebody's ego.

She loves Japan. So she probably decided to sing another version of her songs in Japanese. What's your problem anyway

In my opinion it is a verry awesome version! I love japan and the language and it does not bother me how correctly she pronounces the words. At least she tried to and i love it!
(Sorry for my english btw haha)

Foreign artists almost never release albums in Japan without bonus tracks, usually as an incentive of why they should bother with music that isn't pushed very heavily to them or that they won't understand the majority of. She's not a weeaboo. This is a label mandate. And it's fine.

People giving charli hate for doing japanese versions are silly. Chances are it's her label that has probably made this decision..

To be honest I think Charli's been pretty original by singing 2 songs from her record in Japanese and I see it as a way to give some love to her fan-base in Japan. I know her pronunciation isn't perfect but I don't see the big deal some people are talking about. As a non-Japanese who also sings in Japanese I feel incredibly supported whenever I'm in Japan, and judging from my own experience I think most Japanese people really like it when foreigners show interest in their culture and language. I don't think anyone in Japan will take it as an offensive move, so no need to write rude comments and fight with other people just because you don't like this version... Her Japanese fans will!
