This is a day in my life as a mechanical design engineer working in tech for a small robotics start-up in the San Francisco Bay Area. im currently in my first semester of software engineering and I've realized that I don't wanna just sit in front of a desk everyday and code, even though I enjoy it and and good at it. Ive been watching a lot of your videos because I'm interested in switching to mechanical engineering since I have always wondered how things work. I am also very interested in cars and hands on things like you showed in your video. My main concern with switching majors is that the classes will be too hard for me. I am in pre calculus right now instead of calculus, which has already put me a semester behind. I would also be a semester or two behind my peers which makes me feel like I'm dumb since I'm not as good as them. I am literally torn between which major I should do. I just don't want to be too overwhelmed with the physics, chemistry and math in mechanical engineering that I wish I would have stuck with software.

After 10 years of working as a mechanical design engineer, it's no longer fun. You know every program, every operation, every mechanism. You know the calculations by heart. Customers want "fast and cheap", time is short, products are "supposed to break" because this is their design assumption and there is nothing you can do about it even though you know you should. Today I would choose a different career path.
