Boy, this quilt coat has been a roller coaster. I am finally moving on. And I'm sharing the process...using you as my accountability partners. Thanks for being part of my journey. Oh, and the wedding was absolutely wonderful. 🤗🤗🤗

As someone in their 30's, one thing that hurts me about my mom, you and ya'lls generation is how you guys were denied the "self love" train- You are a BEAUTIFUL woman! I would be absolutely happy to look like you in the coming years. And if you want to wear a quilt coat? Wear the heck out of it!!! It would look great :) Thankyou so much for your candor and honesty, vulnerability. Your feelings are completely valid- we as women are always being made to feel like we are not "enough." You are enough at whatever weight, I just hope you feel good :)

I started following you in 2020 when I was recovering from a total hysterectomy due to endometrial cancer. I taught myself how to quilt while recovering and isolating because of the pandemic. Loss of hormones, lack of exercise, body changes have all resulted in major weight gain, clothes that don’t fit and heartbreaking hair loss. Quilting has helped me keep my sanity as I focus on losing weight and getting active. I am cancer free thank God. Thank you so much Karen for this video, I needed to hear I am not alone in this boat right now. Looking forward to watching your progress on this coat and health journey! Thank you for all you do!

It was as if you were reading my mind and verbalized all my struggles and insecurities in a way I was not able to. Thank you for the inspiration and looking forward to see your progress.

I just love your honesty and ability to self-reflect. I, for one, rarely take the time to do that! But it's a big part to every sewing project 😄

You just said everything out loud that's been in my head stopping me from making my dresses. I teared up when you said fat because yes that one does hurt.
I love you and your videos and they always help with tips or a mood lift and I wanted to say thank you, but also good luck on your sewing and health journey. We believe in you!

As for me I think it's time I stop putting off those dresses... thank you. ❤️

Wow! This was so therapeutic and philosophical. It is always good to take that hard look in the mirror!

Making my own clothes (when I do it) has really helped me accept my body. I cut up all my too small clothes and now I'm making new clothes out of them. I often have to make my own patterns which is really not my strength but it pushes me to see my body as it really is not the bloated blob I see it as. I hope this journey helps you find peace with your body.

Wow, Karen. You’re my go-to for so many things quilting, designing, sewing room organizing et al, but I had no idea you were going to kick me into gear this morning on lifestyle management too. Thank you for being OUR friend.

Karen, thank you for saying out loud what alot of us keep inside. I believe we can all fall down that rabbit hole and its hard to climb out of.
Thanks for addressing those road blocks in an honest manner.
Looking forward to the coat videos.

Thank you Karen for sharing your story. My husband passed in November 2021 and I have not been able to get my mojo back. I love seeing quilts but I have let my life get really messy. I told my grandson that my brain feels crowded. I’m going to try your advice and sit with my fabric and envision what the quilts will look like. I’m also going to look into Noom. Good luck with your coat. I think they are awesome.

Karen you are so inspiring. The last 4 years of my life went from difficult to not good to pure hell. I too pushed my health to the side to deal with everything. Luckily my life is swinging back to joy and happiness but I’m left with a body I’m not so happy with. Time for me. Thank you for giving me the push I needed.

This is relatable. I once upon a time was a lean athletic type. Then I started having some bizarre health problems. I was put on very high doses of prednisone and gained 60lbs in one week, 100 lbs in 1 month, and in short order doubled my weight. Bizarre shifted to nightmare. It's been 25 years and I still haven't recovered from the nightmare.
I miss my old self so much it often brings me to tears. Noom might be the ticket.

Have you ever considered doing videos on making clothing? I would love that. I find that you have such a clear way of explaining things and overcoming challenges and coming up with solutions. At 73 years of age, I find it difficult to find what I want in the limited stores I have available to me and I would like to make and design my own. I really like your approach to making this coat, I will be following your progress.

Thanks for sharing your journey! It can be hard to share your less than perfect moments, but we all have struggles and can relate. You're a fantastic role model and I can't wait to see your coat! I've also been toying with the idea of a quilt coat. I'd love to see how you tackle the challenge. I liked your path and strategy that you shared. It will be nice to have something for yourself to enjoy. You are a very giving person! Don't forget to give to yourself and give yourself grace too!
