This is a DIY how-to on changing the oil on a 2006-2010 5th Gen. MK5 Volkswagen Jetta.

Torque Specs included.

I'm leaking from the top of the oil filter housing. Wasn't leaking before. Now it is. Housing isn't cracked. Gasket is in correctly.

Is it normal for there to be a second seal at top? Not the one inside the oil filter housing but where the housing screws on to. I noticed my car had a second red seal at the top. Was wondering it should be there or if previous person didn't remove it. I could not tell if yours had one in the video.

Looks like you have some water in that oil. Might be worth checking.

Man I bought the same oil filter socket and it bent the drive to the point where my wrench slips off. Did you use a 1/2 drive wrench with adapters or were those all 3/8 extensions?

The crush washer is replaceable, why not just change it instead of the whole plug?
