As a Ghanaian I have watched with complete shock where tourists come to Ghana and get fufu without the locals giving them any instructions or pointers as to how the food is eaten so you will find people fumbling with the food and not knowing exactly how to enjoy it.

Fufu as opposed to a majority of the food in the world is meant to be swallowed after it is dipped or whipped together with the soup around it.
Fufu is NEVER meant to be chewed, and that is what I noticed most tourists do at the watchful eyes of their Ghanaian hosts who just look at them as they struggle with the food.

Once again dear tourists, fufu is meant to be swallowed and not chewed.
This is my first time on your channel and I think you did a great job as a solo traveller Emily.
Akwaaba to Ghana 🇬🇭

I just got back from Ghana two weeks ago! I tried the banku with okra soup and it was bomb! I also tried Palm nut soup! I enjoyed it all!

The population of Ghana is 32.83 million (2021), not 5 million and the population of the Accra Metro area is 2.6 million. it is also normal to negotiate prices in Ghana.

Hello! Like you, I to am living in USA. I live in Indiana. I have been to Ghana five different times. I am actually married to a sweet Ghanaian woman who used to live in Accra. She now lives in Kasoa, Ghana about 30 minutes east of Accra. I love Ghana! Hope you and your new Ghanaian friend are still staying in touch with each other. Ghanaians are the nicest people I've ever met. My wife and our son actually ate at the Pizza Hut you showed in your video. We've eaten there a couple of times. God bless you!

Poor girl! You needed someone with you, to introduce you on proper way of consuming fufu and soup. I applaud you for your adventurous nature. Good luck with all your other travels and experiences around the world.

Props to all the solo travellers out there cos it's not easy taking the bold move to travel to countries you have never been to alone. Y'all bold. Ghana is safe, you will enjoy your stay mam and try more of the local delicacies 😊

Those beggars tapping the window are Malian, Chadian or burkina fasso kids whose parents hide and send them to beg. Fufu is an island surrounded by soup the fufu should be in the soup then it’s less sticky. Banku is fermented maze meal dough.

I am so surprised the restruamt that you bought the fufu from dished out the soup into that polythene bag
There are a lot of small bowls with tight lids used by other eateries.

I clicked on your video fully expecting to hate it after seeing the thumbnail because, sadly, most obroni YouTubers like to portray Africa in a negative light. I was, however, pleasantly surprised. You did a great job of presenting a balanced narrative. I'm super impressed by your willingness to try fufu.😅 Well done.👍

You’re supposed to spread the soup on the fufu in a bowl, it makes it less sticky

Yes. It is normal to barter in Ghana markets. In fact it is what is expected of you as a shopper. Your companion did not understand the word "barter". The equivalent word used in Ghana is "bargain".
Whatever price the seller tells you, offer half of it.

It's normal to bargain in Ghana 🇬🇭. Asking for the prices of things to be reduced is actually very common than you think 😅

The fufu is called swallow. I don’t like it. It taste fine but my stomach is not use to it. Ghana is a fun country. It gets under your skin. You will miss it when you leave. The people are super kind.

It’s soured because the carbohydrates is reduced completely and so if you eat it doesn’t spike your blood sugar levels
