The first thing that came to my mind was "Now Jesse can buy books even though he's on a book ban" 😅

"I want my collection to represent me more as a reader"
Been there, had that feeling a few years ago, sometime when lockdown was being lifted. My brother had found a comic book store and near it is a bookstore that buys new books.I read mainly young readers to young adult with a dash of adult in there. So some of the books I read in the past but didn't want to keep, were sent to my mom's classroom, for the students to read.
But when I came across this bookstore I went 'oh, a way to get pocket money.' So I started going through ALL my books and I had, like, a mind blowing moment of what keeping books means to me and that meant 'books I thoroughly enjoyed, mean a lot to me and/or represent me as a reader'.
So I said goodbye to a lot of books that summer.
I should probably do this again actually. I remember there being some books I was on the fence about, so I maybe I've come to a decision about them now.

Love a good unhaul! I do more of an ongoing unhaul where I always have a box in my closet and when I finish a book I decide if it is good enough to keep or not. That way no mediocer or bad books ever go back on my shelves after I've read them and they get donated when the box gets full instead. Then I also do a bigger unhaul a few times a year where I go back to the shelves to see what books I might have gotten tired of based on how my taste have changed. Something I loved 2 years ago might not be something I care to keep anymore.

I just donated so many books the other day and the hardest for me to get rid of was my shadow hunter collection. I enjoyed my time with it when i was younger I just dont enjoy them anymore…I did keep the clockwork princess trilogy though!

Yayaya. Jesse fixing his shelves mirrors all of us who wanted a library as teens only to later realise we wanted to keep books not because they were “books” but because they were “stories we love”; when we realised that one and the other is NOT the same 😂

I like using the L&L marketing tagline for defining cozy fantasy; high fantasy, low stakes.

My nephew wanted help getting rid of some of his books since both of his shelves were beyond full. It was really fun to help him pick and choose what to keep! It's exciting to see him so invested in reading at such a young age, and now those books are being donated to other kids who will love them. I think it's a really good value to instill in him so early. Just because he bought and read a book that he doesn't want anymore doesn't mean he has to hold onto it.

I feel like the person who made the Cozy Fantasy List you followed also made the Fluffy KDrama List I followed. One episode of fluff and then spent an entire week sobbing 😂

The mindset for Holiday Romances is very much no mindset at all. Just don't think while reading and they're a wonderful time, haha

I'm moving for the second time in the last 12 months and there are books I really just need to admit do not need to come with me. Truly.

So this is good motivation!

I don't have a lot of books, only one not too wide shelf in my house currently. But I did just do a book unhaul because I'm moving! I'm donating thirteen books and I still felt like there were a ton once I packed up all my other ones.😂

Thank you for addressing the subjectivity of "cozy fantasy." Because I KNOW there are books I consider cozy that others wouldn't. I just unhauled about 16 books 2 weeks ago, and I'm still trying to work through my shelves and see which ones I definitely want to keep and which ones I need to get rid of.

I'm so bad at getting rid of books. I definitely had/have that 'trophy' mindset. I recently re-did one of my rooms which included putting up new shelves and reorganizing my books and movies. I did add a few books to a donate pile and there's a stack I want to get rid of because I want a different edition. But there were like 10-15 books I haven't read yet that I was thinking about getting rid of that I just ended up writing in a list. Soon-ish I want to start them and if I'm not into it, dnf and unhaul.

🌸🌸🌸🌸Happy spring! 🌸🌸🌸🌸 I am doing a 2024 Great Library Declutter project. I have purged 60 books so far, and prompted my house mate to purge 30 so far. Of course, I did buy some in 2024 in the first quarter, but I will unhaul some of them after reading, and others are replacement copies of books that bring joy. My goal is 100 books unhauled, and for any books I buy over 100 this year, I will unhaul a book for each one acquired. I plan to put up a Little Free Library to assist in keeping the numbers in check in the future.

I nearly dropped my phone when you said you would read a sequel if one came out 😂

If anyone wants a very animal centred book as opposed to World of Wonders, one that does not focus on the author's life, try The Golden Mole by Katherine Rundell. It is a wonderful short novella that just explores some of the world's most wondrous animals with some fun facts about them sprinkled in and with gorgeous writing! I read it in a single evening and it was lovely!

Thanks to this video I was introduced to Joanna Ruth Meyer, Claire Forrest, Shauna Robinson, Tim Murphy.
My mom is still in the middle of Spare.
I actually have read a book that has worse situations in terms of the relationships than One Day In December, it made me unleash reactions, I got mad/furious, which is a good thing for me as a novel/as a reading experience of a novel.
