The Interior Design profession may be a great option for students who like designing spaces but are not interested in large buildings or extensive structural design.

I am 17 and I was always interested in being an Architect or an interior designer, and this helped a lot! I think I would rather get into interior designing. Thanks!

I think another difference is that in interior design you are working with the constraints of the building, while in architecture the constraints lie outside of the building.

I found a new found appreciation for interior designers when I recently did some work in an architecture practice alongside the interiors team. I was a little uneducated about what they did as well but they really are intertwined with architects. The girls in the interiors team were using all the same programs as the draftsmen / architects and there was a lot of back and forth about the internal spaces and collaboration between the architects and interiors. The interiors team also had to work out finishing schedules and a whole range of other documentation to achieve the exact desired look of the client. This meant a lot of sourcing of products (made easier by the large samples cupboard) and different pairing of materials to achieve the overall look and feel of the brief. My time with the interior team was defiantly enjoyable. - LJ 😀

Actually there is a new profession that sit in between them two it is called interior architect. We also deal with structure. I know we had a tough semester of building system.

I don't want to sound rude, but I'm from a developing country (third world) and I think we can make do without an interior designer. I think it's not as essential like having an engineer and an architect. I'm not saying that I'm on a higher or heck even on equal level with interior designers but I think I could do just fine without them especially because I don't have a lot of money.

Architecture is better for those who can think and love to design like urban but in less scale size. but interior is for those who have passion in the way of how things furnished with more details, do you agree ?

Good job with the elevator pitch drew but if an "interior designer" wants to practice professionally at the same level as architects and building engineers they are going to need an inordinate amount of innate skill and/or an accredited education, supervised apprenticeship and vetting by examination. No we do not perform structural calculations or design structures but we must know the basic principles of structure and its resistance to gravity as well as applicable building codes and life safety requirements. In short there are two types of interior design to be aware regulated interior design and interior design/decoration that interior design that is not encumbered by building codes, accessibility, life safety, etc. Big difference.

Architects tend to inflate their role and importance. Most architects are average designers but always compare themselves to Frank Lloyd Wright or Le Corbusier. Most architects are nowhere near as talented as either Corb or FLW. Sorry but let's be honest. All the architectural firms I've worked in hire, or have on the clients project team: Structural engineers, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineers at a minimum. Code consultants, acoustic consultants, landscape architects, and sometimes many more consultants.
Architects have little if anything to do with structural design, and many other aspects of a building that lay people think they handle. They do overall / general planning and design and coordination of many different sub consultants.
A good architect's design direction has a profound and enormous impact on a finished projects look and feel but there are literally hundreds of different kinds of specialized expertise involved in any significant project.

Is it possible to study architecture and interior design at the same time?

In my own opinion architecture and interior design, do the same work or teamwork

Wrong. They are decorators who sometimes know a little about code and ADA. They are not, in any way, equivalent to an architect. They are, at best, a specialist advisor in decoration.

A friend of mine worked in one of the large and very well respected architecture firms firms in Toronto (KPMB). I was kind of dissing interior designers one day and he said that he worked with some interior designers on some theatre projects in Toronto and they brought a lot to those projects. I think there is a parallel with landscape architecture. Sometimes people don't understand what they do but the difference in quality between a large project which involves a landscape architect and one that doesn't is immediately palpable.
