Marco from Greenville, SC (first caller) was so refreshing. Instead of the typical caller who asks a question and doesn't want to entertain any other idea than his own, he was open to the hosts' answer AND the reason behind the answer. He actually had an open mind. Too bad other callers can't take a page from his book.

To the helicopter mom. Instead of discouraging a young woman from her goal of being an orthodontist, if you feel you must get involved, just encourage her to cash flow it. Being an orthodontist is a wonderful career aspiration. I’d be really upset if I was the mother of that young woman and this mother mom was discouraging her career without having a conversation with me.

Dave is good at patiently taking and answering the calls. I feel like the other personalities rush the calls and end them before a break rather than holding them over. I would have liked to hear more about the medically retired police officer and helping him find a new job

27:00 We drove our beaters after completing Baby Step three. We began saving for their replacements. But unlike Rachel's advice, which is usually spot on, we started Baby Step four immediately. The beaters lasted for 3 more years. We saved $50k, beyond our emergency fund, during that time. When the beaters were dead, we bought two cars totaling $27k. We put the left over $23K into Baby Step six. We became BSMs seven years later.

The tool truck… I love how Rachel is using well known quotes and drawing on wisdom and George is on google! Great balance!

Hayden- ask yourself why they would be willing to sell a franchise to a 19 year old with limited sales experience, that is currently making $15/hour and doesn’t have $180, 000? What’s in it for them? Look at it that way and see if you get to the same conclusion.

Just because future mother-in-laws give unsolicited advice all the time, doesn't mean they should. They shouldn't. Teach your minor son as best you can, then when he is an adult, trust him to ask for advice when he wants it, and trust him to discuss with his future wife before they get married, and then let them deal with the consequences of whatever they choose. Definitely a boundary issue in that call.

KUDOS to the lighting person. This set is beautifully lit. It adds tons of gravitas to these "young - looking" presenters.

Jennifer’s call is a little unhinged. “What should I do about someone else’s child’s future grad school loans.”

Depending on the source, the average salary for an orthodontist is between 147 -250k. If they get married, and have two incomes, what is the big deal? They could pay that off in a few years. Am I missing something?

For some people renting is a good option. Someone else takes the repairs. But also if you got a mobile job rent is good to give you the freedom to move wherever you want to go. Very true about the rent going up. Plus you never know if you end up with a different landlord.

Kevin from Pensacola: Keep your finances separate for now...too complicated. You can still each have a budget to help you stay connected financially. Hang-in there and earn your retirement before you"jump ship."

I greatly appreciate that riff after verse and quote of the day, culminating with George’s joke it was good stuff

Maternity leave is a joke in America. Sometimes I wish I lived in Canada just for that reason. I would have loved 12 months leave when I had my kids!! Would have been so great!

For the person calling ahead and telling people they are planning. Just admit the planning part get the quote and tell them you’ll have to call them back!

From what I heard that teacher wasn't really asking if she could retire. She was asking if she could stop teaching and do tutoring and EMT work. With that pension she totally should do it.

Not everyone is the type to stay in one place for a long time. I move every couple of years. I am looking to move to another state right now and will probably live overseas eventually. Owning a house is difficult to get rid of quickly. And I want to be able to pick up and go. Although technically I am already part owner of some houses through inheritance. I pay the taxes some years but I mostly let my relatives deal with the properties.
