David Bowie - Reggae - Berlin Clubs Story

During the recording of his album "Low" in the late 70s, David Bowie was living in Berlin and spending a lot of his time in nightclubs with Iggy Pop. One night, they were at a club called the Dschungel when Bowie noticed that the DJ was playing nothing but German electronic music.

Bowie, who was always curious about new sounds and styles, walked up to the DJ and asked him if he had any reggae records. The DJ looked at him like he was crazy and said, "Reggae? No, I don't have any of that. This is Berlin, we don't play that here."

Undeterred, Bowie went to a record store the next day and bought as much reggae music as he could find. He then went back to the club that night with a bag full of records and convinced the DJ to play them.

The crowd was initially skeptical, but as soon as the first reggae beat dropped, they started to move and groove. Bowie and Iggy Pop danced all night, and soon the whole club was jumping to the rhythm.

From that night on, reggae became a regular part of the club's playlist, and Bowie was known as the guy who introduced the Jamaican sound to Berlin's nightclub scene.
