Reading VLOG: Q&A, book haul, and more 🍁Victober 2022

Hello!
I can not believe it took me ages to edit this video.
Started the Vlog on 1st October, sat down to film on 4th October, and have been editing it since then.
I wish I could hire someone to edit my videos, so then I would be left to read and film the videos only.
I am really enjoying the autumn weather and reading though. Such a great combination!
I’ve always been in a hot country near the equator during October but this is my first time being there in the UK during fall and it’s a different experience cozying up with a book here.
October’s are quiet hot back home but the vibe is different because of the weather in the northern hemisphere.
So hope this video gets uploaded before October ends. I miss filming and I miss reading regularly but what can we do?
Hope this video isn’t the worst I’ve ever uploaded, I’m working on the concept of perfectionism at the moment and how everything does not need to be perfect. We can not make sure everything around us is perfect all the time, sometimes things are just as they are,
Learning every day,
Anyways,
Happy reading folks!
Love
Reesha

Great to see you Reesha, I was thinking at the beginning of the video how that definitely wasn’t Dubai! Thank you for your honesty about doing a career you felt you had to do rather than one you felt drawn towards but I’m glad you find it rewarding. I read Excellent Women last year and it’s funny and sad in equal measure- I really enjoyed it. Whatever the name of your channel, if you read books other than classics that’s fine by me!

I'm still in the intro but wanted to say how nicely filmed and edited it is. The music is very soothing too 😌
Edit: halfway through now, and I can relate to so much of what you said about career choice and reading fewer classics at the moment... I've been on a nonfiction kick lately. :)

Good to see an update with what's been going on with you. Yes, reading is a challenge when life is busy but I'm glad you're able to find a little time in to read. It makes sense that your reading is changing as you're changing as well. I understand wanting to broaden your reading away from white male writers especially since many of the books you've read are from a certain time period where that might be the norm. I think there is value in reading a different point of view from what's considered standard because writing isn't just writing. People start from a certain bias based on their life experience so how and what someone writes about and even a style of writing is influenced by that. Also, happy reading to you too!

As always, what a lovely vlog! Thanks for answering my question, Reesha. ♥️ struggling to keep up with reading because adulting is hard! I've tried to switch to audiobooks whenever they're available 🙃

Was that your nephew? He is adorable! It's so fascinating and timely that your video posted today and you answered a question about being a doctor. My son told me this morning thank you for not "forcing" him to be a doctor. I told him at one point this may have been encouraged if it was a career he wanted to do, but because I've seen so much change in just the past two decades I would have discouraged him and he thanked me again. A little jealous of your access to so many lovely bookstores😁 I've never heard of Burmese Days. I'm really curious to know the title of the book your husband bought you that you exchanged. LOL It's always good to see you. I think it's perfectly fine to read books that aren't always classics. Oh wow~ What did you think of the acupuncture? My husband tried it for awhile for his MS. I hope you weren't trying it because you have an illness. seriously, I will repeat myself for emphasis, it is always good to see you. Happy reading. ~Erion

I just read Burmese Days last month for a university class, it's really good. Have you read A Passage to India by E.M. Forster? That one deals with similar themes (the corrupting nature of imperialism, etc), and Burmese Days is almost a retelling of Forster's novel in a lot of ways. I'm very into postcolonial literatures and world classics right now as well, so if you want author recommendations, let me know! 🙂

What are your thoughts on Wuthering Hights? I'm about 30% into it and strongly considering dnfing it. It's my first Emily Bronte. I loved i The tenant of Wildfell Hall but this one isn't working for me.
