If You Could, Would You Live Forever? David Sinclair on Extending Lifespan

David Sinclair explains what you can do right now to extend your lifespan and also your so called healthspan. The age of superhumans is about to begin.
When we think of age, we think of a number. That number increases every year, and we regard it as a signpost for general health. At fifty, we begin colorectal screening. In our eighties, we prepare our will. But how much does that number actually tell us? Two people born on the same day are widely considered the same age. So are those two people at equal risk for age-related illness? Scientists that research longevity have arrived at an unexpected result: human beings do not age uniformly. That means that some of us are aging more quickly than others. New interventions even promise to reverse biological age - what might have been called science fiction in the recent past.

I would choose to stay young and live forever. While Neil may not want to and sees little motivation to do so, I see an opportunity to study all the sciences and arts, invent Solar System saving technologies, and explore the Universe. Ultimately, it would be a dream to forge alliances with distant civilizations in the hopes of finding technological advances that could preserve the life giving abilities of the Universe itself. All of this would take a very long time to do, and an indeterminate amount of time with youthful health would add to the joy of every step along the way.

I would absolutely want to live forever because can anyone remember what it was like before you were born? I'd rather be than not?

It would be a cool future if we each have an option to reverse aging, as an incentive to join a colony ship. Imagine living a full normal life, then when we start developing minor health issues - that’s our cue to leave the planet, and begin our extended life (in space).

Even stars do not last forever, forever is impossible. We just want more time, a lot more.

Indefinite? Yeah, absolutely. The knowledge of knowing I will otherwise die ruins everything. I don't get out of bed. I find nothing worthwhile. Only thing that would give me hope is indefinitude, youth and gradual incremental growth and betterment. I experience the knowledge of demise 180 degrees different than NDT does. I project I have things to do for a few centuries. Might be a few millenia. But fairly soon I'd ambiate transhuman advances and upgrades in my physiology. Being merely human sucks too much.

I would have appreciated having more time when I was young. Now, I'm tired of always being in pain and terrified of facing the end.

This is a fatalistic idea that Neal speaks about. He laacks imagination and drive without being forced to do what she should do. As for me... Yes I would like to live forever. If ever I run out of things to accomplish... then there is something wrong. This is because there is always something to do, if your actually thinking. If ever I want to shut off my switch... I can. But at least for now, I cannot see myself wanting to do that. If your happy, if your youthful, and not sick... life is worth living. Find something to do... something that will take you a while, and put yourself working on it. I am an imagineer. And as long as my brain is working correctly and healthy, I can dream. And if I can dream... I can come up with new ideas to solve. That is why I want to live long. I have alot of things to accomplish... which will take many lifetimes. I do want to have companions. Without companions that love you... life is harder.

I would love to live forever while still being in a youthful state.

I mean who doesn’t?

I could be 318 years old and still try out for the NBA, NFL, MLB, etc.

Under the right conditions, anyone and everyone wants to live forever.

The way the world is now (ridiculous and shitty), most want to exit...
