Can a process as involved as large format photography be boiled down into a minute-long #shorts video? See for yourself.

I'm sure there's a lesson in there somewhere, but anyways...thanks for watching and see you next time on Large Format Friday!

This is hilarious. I did this several times before learning how to check that the film was properly seated when loading it.... I like the say "the only thing you can do quickly in large format is to make a mistake".

I knew what to expect from everyone talking about it on the server and I still laughed when you pulled the holder out. It's art when you also get my wife to laugh at photography stuff!

The satisfying 2 clicks... one when the camera is attached.... the other when the shutter release is Nice little video Mat!!

I just got my LF camera. I am learning the dance. I have not even been out yet. But I had no idea to add this in the toe-stepper. Thanks for a funny serious moment. 😮.

I was going to say life's so easy for you until the 38 second mark and changed it to say you're so entertaining sometimes! What a great way to start my day!

lol. Back when I used to cut down 8x10 X-Ray for 4x5 holders I would sometimes have sheets pop out of the tracks when inserting the dark slide because the cut down sheets weren't sitting uniformly in the tracks. It almost always happened when someone was very interested and impressed by what I was doing out in public with the camera and wanted to see a step by step demonstration. In these cases where the sheet popped out of the holder I'd have to take the back off the camera and fish the damned sheet out of the bellows. Oh the humiliation. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

And this is why large format photography is a slow and exacting hobby. 😁

Oh my oh my...the moment you pulled out that film holder and a sheet of film came flying out! I jumped in my seat and gasped and someone asked if something was wrong. I have to be honest. Every time I release the shutter, I hear "kaching* *kaching* in the back of my head 💸

I needed that! It was just last week I pulled the dark slide from my 4x5 film holder before remembering the shutter was still open.

I had that happen my first time out with the LF camera. Dark Slide behind the film. Im guessing I didn't get the sheet of film in the holder correctly so lesson learned and double check the film when loading!

Personally I'm not a fan of shorts in general, but damn, you won me on this one.
