P.F. SLOAN LYRICS

No no no no no no no no no no no no
Don't sing this song

No no no no no no no no no no no
Don't sing this song,

It belongs to P.F Sloan

I have been seeking P.F. Sloan
But no one knows where he has gone
No one ever heard the song
That boy sent winging

Now you might sigh
And you might moan
And sweat
About the skin and bone
You just smiled
And read the Rolling Stone
While he continued singing
Now listen to him singing

No no no no no no no no no no no no
Don't sing this song

No, don't sing this song

No no no no no no no no no no no no
Don't sing this song,

It belongs to P.F Sloan

Oh from now on

Old friend Trigger up and died
Now they've got him stuffed and dried
You know they've tanned his hide
And crucified
Now he's starin' glassy eyed
Out through the parlour door

Nixon's come and bound to stay
He's taken all my sins away
I heard it on the news today
But it set my ears to ringing
Can't you hear the people singing

No no no no no no no no no no no no
Don't sing this song

No, don't sing this song

No no no no no no no no no no no no
Don't sing this song,

It belongs to P.F Sloan

Oh from now on

The last time I saw P.F. Sloan
He was summer burned and winter blown
But he turned that corner all alone
And he was singing
Listen to him singing

No no no no no no no no no no no
Don't sing this song

No, don't sing this song

No no no no no no no no no no no
Don't sing this song,

It belongs to P.F sloan

Oh from now on

No no no no no no no no no no no
Don't sing this song

No, don't sing this song

No no no no no no no no no no no
Don't sing this song,

It belongs to P.F sloan

Oh from now on

Thank you for the music, a singer who actually can sing (cheryl cole) and is not drowned out by the musicians.

Heard this wonderful voice on Graham Norton earlier this .... Awesome is all I can say. She can do more than carry a tune. Real depth to her tone, .... she moves Me!

Why is everyone comparing Rumer to Karen Carpenter, People must have defective hearing she's nothing like Karen, She's her own woman but what a woman, Where have you been hiding Rumer, She's like a breath of fresh air.

A beautiful song written by Jimmy Webb. Many nice covers over the years, she gives it a nice spin here.

Beautiful phrasing and intonation.  Reminds me of a young Sinatra in a weird way.

As undeniably gorgeous as this version is, here are some things to mull over: P.F. Sloan was wrongfully blacklisted for writing “Eve of Destruction” (an anti-war song) and his friend Jimmy Webb ( and this song’s author) was very upset about it. You can hear the outrage in Webb’s version. And then there are the lines about Nixon’s re-election...which were meant to be delivered with the most biting kind of sarcasm (he’s come to take my sins away) Nixon lied to the American people about the war, and then got re-elected. You can really hear the indignation, as well as, perhaps, some resignation, in Jimmy Webb’s voice. So, two very different approaches. Webb’s is not nearly as pretty as this one, but is well worth checking out for a different perspective on the song.

Karen Carpenter came back from heaven and willingly gave her voice to Rumer.
Chivers.

Nice song with an old school 70's feel to it. Kind of like a Karen Carpenter song
