Rugby Referee Analysis | Munster Controversial 'Try' - Disgraceful Officiating

It's 2021, we have amazing technology to help in sport. Yet, for some reason World Rugby still manages to screw up the most obvious and easiest calls in rugby. These calls they mess up is losing teams games and nobody is talking about it. How can we as fans just let this happen? Why can't we expect them to do their jobs?

Chris Busby, how can you mess this up? How on earth can you look at that and tell me that was a try? Also to the TMO, Brian MacNeice, What the hell are you doing? Is it not your job to come in and help the ref if he misses something like this?

How are these guys getting paid to screw up games with no knowledge of the laws. How is it, that normal fans have more knowledge of the law book than them? surely something is not right. How many games is going to be lost by atrocious officiating before something gets done?

The URC has the worst officiating I have seen in years

These refs in the northern hemisphere are diabolical. Aimee Barrett-Theron was head and shoulders above the male refs who blew yesterday's URC games.

The Irish TV commentators were shocked the try was awarded too. Seemed offside watching it live and very obvious on first replay. TMO has to help the ref here.

It is all over the place. What is going on here? I mean they have all this tech, we see the mistakes from home, yet it keeps happening. Yesterday, the referee said to the Sharks Captain, "the "time caller" said time is up".... WTF? The Referee decides when it is full time, who is the time caller? The ball goes out 5 seconds before time is up. Time caller then decides that there is no need for a line out, and orders the ref to end the match!! Explain this to me @Nigel Owens!!!

Keep it going I like the fact that you are now targeting games where South African teams are not playing. Good job.

just remember that your view of the game at home is different to the view that the official has on the field. looking at where the officials head was, he was tracking the ball as it went up so the odds are that he didn't see the offside call that was supposed to be made. Whether or not they had video referral in that game is a total story in which the lability now lies on the video referee for the decision.

The mistakes are just so obvious that one has to question the motives of the refs especially the TV refs. It is unbelievable that anybody can make such blatant mistakes and keep their job.

Absolute disgrace that that try was given. The sad part is these clowns will be officiating again next week with no sanctions

I saw this live and spotted it straight away. The replay confirmed for me. Shocking decision.

Glad I bumped into this- thought it was only against SA sides but TBF I've not watched any games where a SA side wasn't in it. Looks like home advantage is worth about 12 points automatically. At least.

Guys, referees have always got it wrong sometimes. It is only now with the internet that we the fans can point it out. Now they want to crucify a guy like Rassie Erasmus from the RSA

2 possibly 3 guys offside and fairly obvious.
In soccer if you have a big nose sticking out offside the linesman will stick up his flag.
Maybe refs and TMOs should be made to walk home as punishment.
The Sale Sharks game yesterday also had a clear forward pass end up in a try.

Its so funny that the try was awarded since during the SA vs NZ match Kwagga Smith was penalised for kicking the ball after a pass from one of the SA players when they were on attack. There is no consistency.

i don't understand the argument here... you wanted Munster to lose a derby at home? was leinster playing? No? you could be the all blacks that try would have been awarded too

Shame it only ever happens to Connaught. Pity they only play rugby against Irish teams and lose to everyone else.

Northern Hemisphere refs and line judges have been dodgy for years...I mean the offsides were blatantly clear, but that try looked ugly asf.
