Sandra is a young girl homeless on the streets of Chicago. She lost her job and place to stay.

Sandra really is invisible. Hundreds of people walk past as she tries to panhandle enough for a nights hotel stay. And because she sleeps in a hotel, government agencies do not count her as being homeless.

Sandra says, most people dont pay that much attention.

Together we can change that.

My boyfriend once found a young teenage girl homeless and crying on the side of the street. He stopped to talk to her and she revealed that she had run away from home and gotten into drugs and now she was just trying to get enough money to go home to her parents. He bought her a train ticket that day back home.

This is 12 years old. Please update it or remove it. I hope she has made a happy life for herself.

Poor girl! This is heartbreaking! It's 2023. I wish her family or some official department took care of her. She looks so innocent and has a big heart.

I really wish there were more updates on people and how they’re doing.. it would also be nice if there was a way to directly donate to these people who are homeless and struggling.

It's not being homeless itself that breaks a person's heart....it's being alone in your struggles. That feeling of no one cares for you is the thing that breaks people's hearts....As much as possible, we should help people because it's not just about giving things, it's about saying you're not alone, someone cares for you.

Why are her teeth missing at such a young age? I mean, it's not like she has bad teeth. It appears like she doesn't have any teeth at all. Not one.

So, she can rent a 40 dollars room in a Hotel? Man, I am not homeless girl but I just can spend 10 dollars a day. I only have part-time jobs and I am still looking for any other jobs that I can do. I live with roommates. We are 3 girls sharing a studio for 400 bucks a month. I don't need to become a homeless even I am poor. You never know if these people are lying or telling truth.

I hate how people automatically think "drugs" after seeing the homeless. This girl lost her teeth at such a young age and not to mention all, drugs wouldnt even take ALL of your teeth as quick as that.

I know this was in 2010, but my heart is heavy now because she seems like a really down to earth person even in the situation she is in and I'm glad at least she has a companion that doesn't judge her and exceps her.
I really wounder if she is doing well.
Being homeless myself gives you another sense that i really never had before, now i see all types of homelessness.
I wish peace, love, kindness and your dreams come true.
