This robot spent its life trying to save itself… but it was never meant to succeed. In this art piece called Can’t Help Myself, created by Sun Yuan and Peng Yu, a robotic arm was programmed to contain a red fluid it 'needed to survive.' If too much leaked out, it would shut down. At first, it danced and played—interacting with crowds while cleaning up small spills. But over the years, the leak grew worse and it stopped dancing. All it could do was desperately scrape at the mess, over and over again. The saddest part is that the fluid wasn’t even necessary—the robot ran on electricity, unknowingly working itself to death for nothing.
