Great video. Acclaim can be really tricky to finish with the contrasting woods. I've seen a lot of pieces refinished with just a clear finish and a high contrast between the walnut and ash but your method is truer to the original look. Regarding the repaired corners, I think they look great. I've learned to stop chasing perfection in my own work. I used to end up redoing things over and over to try and get them perfect. Of course, I never did get them perfect and the little imperfections that looked huge to my eyes went unnoticed by everyone else who looked at the piece. Thanks for the video.

Love your videos! I'm having a hard time finding the E-Z Vinyl Sealer M610-8007 from Mohawk in the state of California (govt regulations on shipping it into the state as well). Suggestions on what to use in its place? I'm refinishing a Lane mid century drop leaf desk and would really like to try the sealer out. The desk has the ash dovetail and the walnut interior. Somebody wiped stain over it so I was glad to find your video but need to know how to seal it without the E-Z Sealer before applying the color.

Okay. My bedroom set is Ash. I know I need to do many, many smaller pieces before I attempt my set, but I got confused over what you said about Ash. I think you said to seal it (does a base coat accomplish that?) before you attempt any stain or color. I watched you put the sealer on, but then you sanded it off. I know a 400 grit isn't going to do a lot of damage, but did you do that in the vein of a scuff sand?

I have this same coffee table. All the color and stain still looks great, however one of the end dowels (or cross bar) has separated from the leg, so the table is wobbly. I tried drilling into the center to make room for a smaller dowel to lock them together. That didn't last. Any ideas?

enjoyed coming across your videos of restoring this lane table. I scored 2 pieces of lane pieces for free! didn't realize what I until I started researching... curious to know after refinishing a lane coffee table how does it affect the value of the piece, or does it not? would love to know from your expertise! thanks!

The mix that you used to darken the legs, can you buy something like that in a can? I’m looking to make an already finished piece of furniture slightly darker.
Thanks

Great job. I didnt like darker finish for the legs. Rest is perfect especially dog chew repairs.

Beautiful! I recently received one of these in awful condition as well. someone used sawdust and glue to try to fix one leg, but it didn't set straight, and now causes the entire unit to wobble. any suggestions on how to remove and fix this? I wish I could attach a picture, there's a large section around the base of the leg that would be entirely missing.

It's that simple, just go to the Stodoys website and enter the world of woodworkers.
