The rare 1991 BMW 318i E30 with an M42 engine!

BMW E30s are everywhere. But so many cool variants existed that are well-speced, rare and very special. This 1991 318i with the M42 engine is a perfect example. We had a 1985 325i with fake M badges and a spoiler. It had a sunroof. Gold with gold rims. It looked a lot like this. 5 speed manual. I threw a party in high school and my mom sold it. She gave it to her hair dresser for 1k. I put more than 1k of speaker equipment into that car. I loved that car.

These are very neat cars and the love this guy has put into it is great. I had one years ago and enjoyed that M42 tremendously. Had a 318is as well but that 4 door was neat. I don’t even want to know what either one of those cars cost nowadays.

Finally! I've been researching this engine, and the more I searched the more confused I became. Basically, this M42 double overhead cam engine has the M40 style intake. It made no sense. The car also has 4-wheel disc brakes, steel wheels with hubcaps, and a sunroof. I don't think it has the coil-on-plug feature since I can see two units feeding two plugs and installed on the fender. Cheap vinyl interior and dash cracked into about fifty pieces, and a roof seal leak. It's a sun-baby. Thanks for revealing the unique position of your car.

Good video, thanks. But the 320is, 4 doors, 192hp, is more rare. Only 1.205 sold, in Portugal and Italy. Mine included.
