2024 Reads | Weeks 9-13 (+mini-update)

After taking March off, I’m wrapping up all the books I read during my filming vacation. I also talk about my plans for April and going forward.

Also a quick note that since I completely lack the spoons/energy to do much of anything right now, I’m skipping some of the things I find draining/time consuming (noting down content warnings, adding timestamps, making closed captions) and just sticking to what I can manage at the moment.

I seriously need to get into the murderbot diaries series <3 Wrapped up in you sounds very cute and while it isn't too deep it sounds like one for me to read in December in the run up to Christmas! Love that you delved into books by your favourite authors when taking your break, and lots of lovely romance reads. I've heard about Courtney Milan as a legendary romance author and it's great to see that her book struck such a chord with you! I hope you enjoy going back and reading the first in the series. If you like that one too, I might have to add her to my authors to try list. Hope having an extended break will be restorative for you x

Also: I think we might be looking at the beginning of an international uprising of White Goods. I know a whole slew of people (myself included) whose dishwasher/washing machine/fridge etc. recently stopped working. So… watch out, I guess? 😉

Finally got to How High We Go in the Dark. It was picked for my book club this month. I'm liking it. The detail at the beginning about the Batagaika crater was particularly interesting,

And omg l'm so happy you loved The Devil Comes Courting!! It's so good!! And I'm glad it holds up even without reading the other books in the series. I liked book 1 almost as much but book 2 was a minor letdown for me (still good but not great). I wrote a longer review on StoryGraph and tried to link it but YouTube is blocking me 😆 I may just put it on Goodreads as well.

The Reluctant Heartthrob sounds great too! I might have to try that one. Contemporary romance has been very hit or miss for me but I love good honest communication and I know you've raved about quite a few of Jackie Lau's books!

And of course Murderbot is the best 😃
